Pinnacle Of Close Range Combat Weapons

    Pros:
    Cons:
After a very long time researching what I wanted to get, I settled on a Kel Tec Sub 2000. Then I began looking into how to make it more in line with what I was looking for. This product from MCARBO is...well as close to perfect as I could ask for. I wanted a weapon that could travel with me, by easily concealed, lightweight, , minimal recoil, with options to allow accurate shot placement at 100-200 yards.

The key to successful combat is being armed, being ready first, landing the first well placed shot, and the last well placed shot. All as quickly as possible. This MCARBO Carbine will give you an edge. Combined with a Red Lion Folding Front sight, A Pistol Style Tac Light, and their epic red dot mount, I can use my wide aperture peep sight for point blank, and transition to my AT3 Tactical RD-50 2MOA Red Dot for all range precision. Coupled with a rail mounted bi-pod, the accuracy at 70+ yards is astounding. V8 cans splatter and fly feet backwards with JHPs. No missing with this thing. The weapon is very quiet. I don't even NEED ear plugs. The impulse is absurdly low for a weapon of such decent power. Mostly a left right sight shake, almost no rise.

The Recoilless Charging Handle should be considered a must. If you think about it, the extra weight on the handle should increase the shell chamber linger time during discharge. One might guess this would slightly increase power as well as limit recoil.

With their single point sling mount and a Magpul Single point sling, the total weapon is far from a burden to carry while deployed.

I personally feel set. I don't need a 5.56 platform now. I have this for 0-150 yards and my bolt action for all the rest.

As a note, the plastic Kel Tec stock front forearm rails SUCK. Don't waste your money as I did trying to fit it with a long eye relief scope. If you can find a .83" riser that does not rock when tightened, you may soon find, as I have, that the rail is so off parallel with the barrel, that you can't even calibrate it to a zero.

Disappointing to say the least on that end. I had it laser bore sighted too...guess the top rail warped with use. Never the less, that may have been a bridge too far for this masterpiece.

The Trigger is very good. I would stop short of excellent, because the trigger on my bolt action is just that, but the MCARBO trigger is very good. Not quite as crisp a break as I like, but does not seem to affect my aim at all. At least not within this weapon's working distance. Nice short reset. Given the drop chart calculators, this should be theoretical able to hit a man sized target at up to 250 yards with double height hold over.

I use 115 grain standard pressure. I assume it to move around 1300 FPS out of this barrel. You can climb up to the 1500-1600 range with some hotter loads however. Also, JHP still may expand at 100 yards given the calculators. 50 yards, for sure. But I'll tell you this: A 5.56 that fails to fragment at 100+ yards makes a .22 hole. Even if the JHP fails to expand, it will never shrink smaller than a .355 hole, right through the target.

Fun to shoot, easy to carry, accurate, lightweight, easy to conceal, fast to deploy, and takes Glock 33 round magazines. What more could you need for a close range weapon? (50 round mags...I know....)

I thought I had lost my mind spending this much money on this gun. Probably twice what the regular model cost. But this is a fun gun to shoot. Shot a couple hundred rounds of cheap 9mm without a malfunction. It shoots tight groups at 25 yards but off center. I will need to adjust front sight. All the M*CARB mods are great. I bought the fore grip and butt stock and they were kind enough to install for free. They also installed the rubberized grip. I shot a friend’s 2nd generation and the difference in the M series is night and day. The M series is much more pleasing to shoot with a much better trigger and less recoil. My only gripe is why didn’t they polish the feed ramp. I really don’t want to take this down to polish it. Seems like it would have been way to do while they had it apart. And the 10 rd mag. I say save those for CA. I would have rather had the 17 rd mag. All in all no regrets. Nice to have a small caliber carbine that will fit easily in an average backpack.

    Ket-Tech Sub-200 M-Series 40 S&W

    Rating:
    Pros:
    Cons:
All M*Carbo parts were installed correctly and fit and finish was fine. I also had the rubber buttplate installed but not the scope mount. First 100 rounds were to familiarize myself with the carbine. Tuning the front sight was somewhat tricky due to my glasses fogging up constantly in humid hot air in the indoor range. Five shot groups settled down at 25 feet to 1.5 inches and centered in multiple 3 inch bull targets while fired in quick fire sequence from a standing shoulder position. Trigger action was excellent, and length of pull was OK, but the sight plane on top of the rear tube was hard to aquire instinctively. No noticeable recoil shooting 180 grain and 165 grain 40 S&W rounds. No failures to either feed rounds or eject brass. Shot like I expected it to shoot. I like the upgrades and the total product, but would like to shoot several hundred more rounds outside with better light to verify performance at 25, 50 and 100 meter distance targets to verify group size and centering. Overall a good product and worth the cost if getting maximum performance out of the Kel-Tech Sub-2000 is a priority. It is fun to shoot and easy to clean. Good work M*Carbo!

    Kel-Tec M Series 9mm Beretta magazine

    Cons:
I put 150 rounds through her this morning. The peep sight is wonderful. The trigger pull with the M*CARBO Performance Pro Trigger Bundle is smooth and easy as can be. I found my sweet spot with just a little pressure before it fires. The trigger pressure helps so much in keeping the muzzle on target. The grouping at 15 yards was perfect and I had little paper left at center mass. At 25 yards my grouping was still tight albeit high. So I need to do my homework and adjust the site or wait until my new glasses arrive. The recoil is negligible and I haven’t even put on the butt stock pad on yet nor have I installed the the front grip. What a fun carbine to shoot and I’m sure the M*CARBO components made the weapon what it is. One thing that seemed odd. I have a Beretta 92fs Compact which uses 13 round magazines. My 10, 15 and 30 round mags worded perfectly. My 13 round mags would not allow a round to be chambered. I have to compare them closely, but not until my new glasses arrive. Thank you M*CARBO, I really enjoy this firearm.
