The sight is definitely good quality. It fits well and works as it should.
I have not had any issues with holding zero up to 25 yards.
I opted for the left handed version. Hear me out...
So the right hand version has the lever toward your body when you sling the firearm. I chose the left version because it makes the release lever point away from my body. The last thing I want is to have something on my chest rig catch on the lever and my sight folds up and away.

The flip up mount is theoretically a great idea. You just have to make sure your optic will work with it. My optic is too tall for the mount. The reason the height matters is because the optic hits the frame of the mount when I tip it to get it onto the rail. As such, I can’t tip the optic enough to get it onto the rail. The only way this mount works with my optic is if I buy a mount for the right hand side of my gun, not the left hand side. That way, the mount has clearance for my optic to tip and go on the rail. End of the world. Maybe not. But I would have to operate the mount with my other hand, which I don’t want to do.

More important: This company is ridiculous. I’ve been trying to contact them to ask questions about this for over a week. Web site says they call back in 24-48 hours. I’ve left 3-4 messages over last 6-7 days (4-5 business days). Wen site says to email for quicker response. I’ve also sent at least 2 emails over last 5 business days. No reply to anything. That’s infuriating. I don’t see any reason to ever buy something from a company that refuses to be reachable by ANY method.

Yes — the Vortex Crossfire red dot is compatible with your Kel-Tec SUB-2000 and works with M*CARBO flip-up sights. The reason you can’t get on paper isn’t a hardware incompatibility — it’s a zero/alignment issue. Laser bore sighters can be misleading on the SUB-2000 because the barrel and rail alignment can differ. Instead, start at a short range (10–15 yds), fire a small group, and adjust the red dot from live fire to bring the group to the dot. Once you’re on paper at 10 yds, you can work your way back out to 25–50 yds and finish zeroing.

The optic height is set up for absolute co-witness. That means with a compatible SIG-style micro red dot (like the Romeo5 we’ve specifically tested/recommended), the dot should sit right on the top of the front sight when your factory irons are properly aligned — essentially center/true co-witness, not “a little above.” There are no issues with adding a riser.

Genuine question here. I know many will say you do not need this for the gen3 because it barrel rotates but I want it to keep the folded height as low as possible . Once it has rotated- optic height plus riser height is now sticking out, making it less stowable. Will this mount work on gen 3 and allow lower folded height/width ?

I just measured the eye relief. For me it was 10" from the back of the mount to my eye. This most likely will be too far for a magnified optic. I wouldn't recommend a magnified optic on this mount, it is really intended for red dots and holographic sights.

I have tried a number of Optics that have not worked, the +/- many were 50 MOA didn't center. I am going to buy a Romeo 5 because MCarbo said they have tested with it and it work reliably. Can you install it with the 1.41 riser or does it need a lower install. Please Advise because not all come with both options. Thanks, I really hate the sub200 sights and have upgraded this gun with a ton of mcarbo parts steel ramp, recoil buffer, ordered Aluminum trigger and guard, screws and receivers . But I really want to get this optic figured out. I have 2 AR, and 5 pistols all with optics. I have experience zeroing them, but the mcarbo optic plate has baffled me with some of the rifledots I like. Please advise about Romeo5. Thanks!

Rather than permanently modifying your Sub2000, I would recommend using a rail riser to get your red dot higher up. It would also allow you to have your iron sights for backups.

They are included because every firearm is different and some of the fore ends are not exactly the same so the shims are good to give it that little bit of extra clearance to straighten up the mount to keep it in line with the existing rails. There is a small instructional booklet to go through if you install and the optic mount is canted either way and the sight isn't properly aligned.

We don't have a set number as far as weight recommendation, as our mount can hold and maintain zero with any optic/scope you can fit, but you will likely run into issues with rail length before having to worry about the weight itself. We have had some customers mount an extended rail on the optic mount in order to then mount a longer scope, and have had good results with it maintaining zero even with that added weight. We would just advise a little added caution if/when flipping a larger setup like that out to the side to fold the rifle to avoid losing your grip and dropping the weapon.

Weight will not be an issue with our mount, but the Pic Rail only measures about 1.5 inches in length, so depending on your specific optic, there may not be enough rail for those larger units.

We do highly recommend installing the flip-down rear sight so you do not have to worry about co-witnessing, however, I've heard from several other customers that they were able to successfully co-witness their Romeo 5 with the OEM sights.

You should be able to add a riser to the fore end pic rail if you would like to make them even, but remember, mounting anything to the top of the fore end will prevent the folding ability of the rifle.

The sight is definitely good quality. It fits well and works as it should.
I have not had any issues with holding zero up to 25 yards.
I opted for the left handed version. Hear me out...
So the right hand version has the lever toward your body when you sling the firearm. I chose the left version because it makes the release lever point away from my body. The last thing I want is to have something on my chest rig catch on the lever and my sight folds up and away.

The flip up mount is theoretically a great idea. You just have to make sure your optic will work with it. My optic is too tall for the mount. The reason the height matters is because the optic hits the frame of the mount when I tip it to get it onto the rail. As such, I can’t tip the optic enough to get it onto the rail. The only way this mount works with my optic is if I buy a mount for the right hand side of my gun, not the left hand side. That way, the mount has clearance for my optic to tip and go on the rail. End of the world. Maybe not. But I would have to operate the mount with my other hand, which I don’t want to do.

More important: This company is ridiculous. I’ve been trying to contact them to ask questions about this for over a week. Web site says they call back in 24-48 hours. I’ve left 3-4 messages over last 6-7 days (4-5 business days). Wen site says to email for quicker response. I’ve also sent at least 2 emails over last 5 business days. No reply to anything. That’s infuriating. I don’t see any reason to ever buy something from a company that refuses to be reachable by ANY method.

Yes — the Vortex Crossfire red dot is compatible with your Kel-Tec SUB-2000 and works with M*CARBO flip-up sights. The reason you can’t get on paper isn’t a hardware incompatibility — it’s a zero/alignment issue. Laser bore sighters can be misleading on the SUB-2000 because the barrel and rail alignment can differ. Instead, start at a short range (10–15 yds), fire a small group, and adjust the red dot from live fire to bring the group to the dot. Once you’re on paper at 10 yds, you can work your way back out to 25–50 yds and finish zeroing.

The optic height is set up for absolute co-witness. That means with a compatible SIG-style micro red dot (like the Romeo5 we’ve specifically tested/recommended), the dot should sit right on the top of the front sight when your factory irons are properly aligned — essentially center/true co-witness, not “a little above.” There are no issues with adding a riser.

Genuine question here. I know many will say you do not need this for the gen3 because it barrel rotates but I want it to keep the folded height as low as possible . Once it has rotated- optic height plus riser height is now sticking out, making it less stowable. Will this mount work on gen 3 and allow lower folded height/width ?

I just measured the eye relief. For me it was 10" from the back of the mount to my eye. This most likely will be too far for a magnified optic. I wouldn't recommend a magnified optic on this mount, it is really intended for red dots and holographic sights.

I have tried a number of Optics that have not worked, the +/- many were 50 MOA didn't center. I am going to buy a Romeo 5 because MCarbo said they have tested with it and it work reliably. Can you install it with the 1.41 riser or does it need a lower install. Please Advise because not all come with both options. Thanks, I really hate the sub200 sights and have upgraded this gun with a ton of mcarbo parts steel ramp, recoil buffer, ordered Aluminum trigger and guard, screws and receivers . But I really want to get this optic figured out. I have 2 AR, and 5 pistols all with optics. I have experience zeroing them, but the mcarbo optic plate has baffled me with some of the rifledots I like. Please advise about Romeo5. Thanks!

Rather than permanently modifying your Sub2000, I would recommend using a rail riser to get your red dot higher up. It would also allow you to have your iron sights for backups.

They are included because every firearm is different and some of the fore ends are not exactly the same so the shims are good to give it that little bit of extra clearance to straighten up the mount to keep it in line with the existing rails. There is a small instructional booklet to go through if you install and the optic mount is canted either way and the sight isn't properly aligned.

The easy way to tell is if your firearm has a picatinny rail in the handguard from the factory is a Gen 2, all the ones in the pictures are Gen 2.

We don't have a set number as far as weight recommendation, as our mount can hold and maintain zero with any optic/scope you can fit, but you will likely run into issues with rail length before having to worry about the weight itself. We have had some customers mount an extended rail on the optic mount in order to then mount a longer scope, and have had good results with it maintaining zero even with that added weight. We would just advise a little added caution if/when flipping a larger setup like that out to the side to fold the rifle to avoid losing your grip and dropping the weapon.

Weight will not be an issue with our mount, but the Pic Rail only measures about 1.5 inches in length, so depending on your specific optic, there may not be enough rail for those larger units.

If I attach my Romeo 5 to this mount will I need to get the flip down site also to get it out of the way..or does it work fine with the original site in place ?

Without the flip down rear sight, what Romeo5 mount do you recommend? The smaller one or the taller one?

We do highly recommend installing the flip-down rear sight so you do not have to worry about co-witnessing, however, I've heard from several other customers that they were able to successfully co-witness their Romeo 5 with the OEM sights.

Question:
How high is the section of rail on the optic mount relative to the rail on the fore end of the Sub 2k? Is it even/level? Would I need a riser to make the rest of the fore end rail even with the optic mount rail?

Hello, the Optic Mount Rail is approximately .350 - .375 inches higher than the polymer pic rail on the fore end. You should be able to add a riser to the fore end pic rail if you would like to make them even, but remember, mounting anything to the top of the fore end will prevent the folding ability of the rifle.
