Yes, it is better than the original. But the head is too big and I could not reassemble the upper and lower receiver. I can modify.
Great replacement for cheap plastic
I bought this, along with the 20lb Max Control recoil springs, to try and make my very old P-11 (#44xxx) usable again for concealed carry. Even with the factory springs, the metal rod made a nice difference, but when combined with the new springs it is amazing! Put 100 rounds through it at the range, no hiccups and much better recoil control. Very pleased with M*CARBO and their products, and I will be getting more of them very soon.

Have only fired once since installing but fired without jamming or marring the rod or slide. Huge upgrade to the factory plastic guide rod.

Being 65 years old and some arthritis in my hands, will racking the slide be an issue with this product?
No, changing out the guide rod to our Stainless Steel upgrade will not increase the slide racking difficulty in any way. Our Upgraded Recoil Spring is a little stronger than the OEM spring, but will not increase slide racking difficulty by a significant amount.
