KEL-TEC SUB-2000 Muzzle Brake
The M*CARBO KEL-TEC SUB-2000 Muzzle Brake is designed to reduce felt recoil and control muzzle rise, improving overall shooting stability and accuracy.
While highly effective, note that it will increase the firearm’s length by approximately 1" (including thread engagement).
Perfect for competition shooters and home defense applications alike.
Installation requires a standard AR-15 Armorer’s Tool or a 3/4" wrench.
To prevent cosmetic scratches during installation, apply 1–2 layers of masking tape to the brake.
We’ve transitioned to the Crush Washer Style Muzzle Brake, discontinuing the Jam Nut Version.
This updated design requires a vise for secure installation, ensuring proper alignment with no exposed barrel threads.
Unlike the Jam Nut Version, no Rocksett is required for installation.
For the best results, use the SUB-2000 Barrel Jaws with your vise during installation.
⚠️ WARNING:
Do not install the Crush Washer Style Muzzle Brake without proper Barrel Jaws.
Improper installation may damage the SUB-2000’s plastic hinge that secures the barrel.
Avoid over-tightening to prevent thread damage.
This muzzle brake combines the benefits of both a brake and a compensator, dramatically reducing felt recoil and muzzle rise.
The result: more controllable rapid fire and improved accuracy for every shot.
While not required, we recommend Rocksett for optimal long-term performance.
With a 1,500°F temperature rating and removable strength, it offers added security without permanent adhesion.
Enhance your shooting experience today by reducing recoil and muzzle flip with this essential SUB-2000 upgrade.

Gen 3 Sub 2K
Do not buy the barrel jaws, they dont fit on the Gen 3, unless you completely disassemble the rifle. I was able to install the muzzle brake, with no issues or damage to the hinge, by placing the grip in a vice with a rag to protect it. The crush washer, that came with the brake, easily gave way and allowed the brake to screw in to the correct orientation. Put some locktite on to secure it. Shot the gun the gun same day and had noticeably improved recoil. Fantastic product.
Amazing muzzle brake!
I was nervous about placing this muzzle brake on my sub 2000 gen 2 rifle. But MCarbo is here to make sure you have all the right amount of knowledge. The barrel jaws is a MUST. Without it, I would have surely destroyed my gun in the process. Also, if you are not that handy, MCarbo does have an option to mail your rifle and let someone else work on it. I think having options is what makes this company great. As for the installment, I will admit that I may not have had the best tools for the job. But even then, I made it work. I used a 3.25" clamp-on vise. If you go with this option, just know that the rifle will slip or roll. Not by a lot, but if you are not paying attention you may mess up the front sights. Luckily I did not have to do much torquing to get the muzzle in the right position. Once in position, I inspected the rifle and took it to the range. I shot a little over 300 rounds and immediately could tell the difference. The recoil is less and it is just as accurate as it ever was. Overall, I think MCarbo provided a lot of information and made this job a success.
Why I support Mcarbo:
1. They are Combat Veteran owned.
2. They support the Military/LEO’s (I was both)
3. Their components are Detail Engineered
4. Exceptional QUALITY
5. Customer Service is A+++
6. They offer ”How To” detailed videos for most components
7. Fast shipping and Outstanding order communications
Note: Basically I rebuilt my Kel Tec sub 2000, Gen 2
Sweet
Pretty straightforward install. Do not even think about sticking this bad boy on without a vise and the nifty vise blocks mcarbo boys sell. At least in my case it took a lot of force to center it including counter torque with a 3/4" open end wrench on the sight nut. A LOT. In fact i would recommend holding the sight nut to eliminate some of the force twisting the barrel in the vise.....masking tape protecting barrel kinda slips unless you really crank the vise....I tightened the vise pretty good to the point i was afraid of damaging barrel. Took 10 minutes and no damage. Very pleased and looks very professional.
Easy install w/ crush Washer
Outside of the bolt cover tube, this muzzle break is really was grabbed my attention with M-Carbo. Make sure you order the Jaws and have a vice to grip hold of your barrel before you do anything, I was able to get a table top vice for $40 off Amazon. I also used JB weld when threading this on since I live in a state that requires a permanent attached muzzle device. Between using that with the crush washer, this muzzle isn’t going anywhere. I’m so looking forward to the range now.
Installation was very straight forward; however, there is one fly in the ointment. I order the vise jaws, and according to the installation video, the inside of the jaws are supposed to be machine-contoured to fit the barrel. The ones I received are not. The vise jaws in the video appear (not confirmed) to be longer than the actual ones I received. The vice jaws did not hold the barrel completely in the jaws, there was about an 3/8" air gap in the bottom of the "vee". I used painter's masking tape on the barrel, and used the stock, folded up perpendicular to the barrel to keep the barrel from rotating inside the jaws and installation was smooth and trouble-free. There was no marring on the barrel when the tape was removed. I can't wait to go to the range to try out this and the other goodies I installed on this neat rifle.
Muzzle brake
This part is exactly as it is described. Threads were cut perfect. All surfaces are finely machined. Arrived with a crunch washer for installation.
It would be nice if the customer was offered a choice between the Crunch Washer or a Jam Nut. I purchased a jam nut separately from another source.
Wish I hadn't bought it.
The jaws should be longer, even though I tightened the vise (I even used a rubber mallet to tap the vise's handle to tighten it more) the rifle barrel still moved. I did use masking tape on the barrel, but when the barrel moved the tape tore scratching, marring the barrel.
Following the video's instruction when I hand tightened the muzzle brake, it ended up in the 12 o'clock position which meant I had to turn the brake a full 360 degrees. Every time the brake would tighten, I would release pressure on the crush washer and attempt to tighten the brake again as demonstrated in the video. This process didn't seem to help much at all.
When I had about 15 degrees left in order to have the brake in the 12 o'clock position, I couldn't budget the brake anymore, I decided to forget the whole thing and not use the muzzle brake. I removed the muzzle brake, but I wasn't able to remove the crush washer.
I eventually replaced the muzzle brake, added extra masking tape used a vice grip and kept tapping the vise grip with a rubber mallet until the brake moved to the 12 o'clock position.
If the muzzle brake didn't have to move a full 360 degrees, I think it would have been a much easier install.
Would it be possible to supply 2 crush washers? One thicker and another thinner in case the muzzle brake needs to turn a full 360 degrees?
How am I suppose to install on a Gen 3? The barrel isn't exposed enough for the aluminum jaws?
To install the Muzzle Brake on the Gen 3, remove the hand guard and then the barrel jaws will fit.
why does it no longer come with the jam nut ? Won't I need that to install it on my Gen 3, to keep it on tight ?
We used to include a threaded jam nut with our muzzle brake kits, but newer production models (especially for the Gen 3) are designed to install flush and torque directly to the barrel without needing a jam nut
What is the finish? Polished blue to match 2000? Dull? Bead Blasted?
Most current models come in a matte black oxide or Cerakote-type finish to closely match the subdued, non-reflective finish of the SUB-2000.
Are all of the Sub2K parts compatible with the CQB model?
Tipp November 11, 2024 4:57 PM
this part is not compatible with the CQP model
Will this work on the sub 2000 gen 3? Or just gen 1-2?
I have a Gen 3 and ordered the muzzle break. It fits but you can't tighten it using the jaws. There's not enough exposed barrel for the jaws to work properly.

So the thread protector is supposed to come off without using any tools? I think mine is welded on!
November 14, 2023 4:43 PM
If you cant get it off by hand you can use pliers
I have a 3 inch clamp on vise. Will this be enough to place this muzzle brake?
November 12, 2023 2:19 PM
Your vise should work for installation
How much will this add to the folded length of the gun?
Do I need to buy Barrel Jaws if the installation will be done by MCarbo?
If we do the install for you, you do not need to buy the jaws
Does the muzzle brake kit come with a crush washer wrench?

No, this does not use a crush washer wrench, The only wrench needed will be to tighten the muzzle breaks itself which is a 3/4 wrench, or you can use an armorers wrench.

How do I order a 9mm mini muzzle brake like the one in the video (Coned nose)? This item is not shown/listed on the external parts page. Photo shows only a square nosed model. Also I would like to order a single sling mount for the plastic nut Gen2 sub 2000 9mm. This item is also not listed. Can you help if I order on the phone? I watch the videos but cant seem to order these parts. I am very happy with my recently purchased trigger upgrade bundle and stainless ramp.
Thanks,

We stopped selling the "Coned" version and only sell this version. The sling mount you can fined if you look for a "QD single point" this will show all of our QD single mounts, you just have to click on the one for the Sub-2K
Is this CA compliant? Thanks.
Yes our Muzzle Brake is a Brake/Compensator hybrid and is not a suppressor in any way. We do include these Muzzle Brakes on Cali-compliant M-Series orders! As state laws are always changing, however, we always recommend checking with your local authorities for any aftermarket upgrades if you are unsure.
why isn't the "laser cut" crush washer wrench included with the muzzle brake?
Hi Tommy, The wrench was only necessary for our old-style brakes that came with a jam nut. Our current upgraded "crush-washer" version can be installed with a standard 3/4" wrench.
What is the difference between the mini and the full size?
Does the full interfere with folding?
You can check the comparisons in the Description above! neither brake will interfere with the rifle's folding capabilities :)
Do they make a suppressor for a sub 2000.?
Hello, yes there are suppressors available out there! As long as your barrel has 1/2 x 28 threads on it, you will find one compatible for the 9mm or 40 cal. Unfortunately, we don't happen to carry them here.
I thought you had a muzzle break in .40 cal (Sub 2000 .40 cal)???? You only have it for the 9mm
Hello, if you contact us directly by phone or email, we can search your order # and provide you with an accurate update. 727-223-1816 M-F 9am-3pm or help@mcarbo.com
