As always a great part from MCARBO. A bit beefier than the original Ruger take down pin. Nice 45° taper, easier to put back into the pistol. MUST recommend.
I ordered this take down pin before i read the reviews, my mistake, but i emailed Mcarbo if i could cancel the order if the pin was not corrected, reply said the pin was corrected, so ,i don't know, i'm just keeping it for a spare for now
I haven't had a chance to fire the pistol since replacing the takedown pin but I don't expect any issues since I can manipulate the slide with no issues. I'll never fire enough 380 rounds to test the strength and reliability.
best aftermarket pin yet - fits perfect and easy to put in. Be careful of the double recoil spring when taking the slide off. highly recommend this pin as a upgrade for your LCP max
I bought this supposedly heavier duty retaining pin assuming it was as good a product as everything else that I have purchased and either have installed by KelTec or Mcarbo or myself. This pin slips out of its position in the retaining hole in the side opposite the insertion hole, regardless of proper appearing installation and dry fired confirmation of proper installation. When this occurred on my pistol it ruined the insertion frame it installs into, which by the way is the serialized part of this weapon. It jammed my slide back after only a couple of rounds at the range. When this occurred it reamed and elongated the anchor pin hole opposite the insertion hole. An expensive and foolish thing on Mcarbo to market such a pin without proper CQ which is an obvious thing to state as this same thing has occurred to many buyers.
Disclaimer: my factory pin hasn’t failed over ~250rds I’ve put through the LCP Max but this upgrade is more for peace of mind and ease of installation. The chamfer on the end does make a difference when re-inserting past that spring. For this price you can’t go wrong
Great product, much more robust then OG part.
Easy to install.
Great M*CARBO value part, again. Super easy install and you will be glad you did, every time you field strip the amazing LCP MAX.
Today, I installed the Mcarbo stainless steel guide rod and takedown pin on my LCP Max. Both pieces feel substantially stronger and better built than the originals. While I had no problems with the factory parts, these will give me more confidence in an already great pistol.
Thank you, Mcarbo.
Arrived quickly and the replacement piece is obviously stronger than the factory original. East installation needless to say. Recommend.
I bought the take down pin and installed it. Went to the range and after about 50 rounds my slide jammed horribly with a round stuck in the chamber!!! It took TWO staff members about 20 minutes to un-jam it and release the round! The fist shot after that I noticed the pin sliding OUT of the pistol with each shot. I pushed it back into place and resumed shooting. Pin slid out further with each additional shot! I stopped the range session and went back home. I immediately took out the replacement take down pin AND REPLACED IT WITH THE ORIGINAL PIN THAT CAME WITH THE PISTOL! I threw the replacement pin in the TRASH BIN!! ! I will eat the cost because I don’t feel like going through the hassle of sending it back, etc. The replacement pin is slightly different from the original pin on close inspection. It did not work in my LCP Max. I do not recommend taking a chance with this modification. I bought the stainless steel rod also. I removed that as well and put back the original. Hopefully my experience will keep others from having the same debacle at the shooting range. BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! BEWARE!!!
Out with the original part, in with newer Heavy Duty STRESS-PROOF takedown pin. One can see the beefier head on the M-Carbo part. Clicks right in in seconds.
I purchases this take down pin thinking I was avoiding breakage from the flimsy manufacturers pin but what a mistake!
I cannot go thru a single mag with my Ruger LCP without the pin backing out and the gun jamming! It is a peso of junk that is going into the trash. My gun is far less dependable than with the original take down pin.
The service rep had no solution s other than to mess with the spring holding it ever time the gun is reassembled. No thanks!
I thought I was getting an upgrade but instead got a serious downgrade. After every three shots the pin backs out causing malfunctions. I've reinstalled several times with no changes. I emailed service and got no response. 10$ waste.
Part was definitely more substantial than original. Was not as described in video but installed very easy.
The new take down pin is a vast improvement over the original manufacturer pin. Communication and delivery was excellent thanks guys
