I watched the video first and then bought the kit. Getting the sides back together was my only struggle. The springs like to pop out of place. The slide return spring retaining wire is the only part I have concern that it might fail
This one stretched my gun smithing skills, however I learned and enjoyed the complete rebuild. The installation video is excellent and allow someone with no gun smithing experience to get the the project totally completed. Thank goodness they included the armor tool to get that #%&@ slide release spring in, after about the six time, I got the hang of it. One note is, it is great that MCarbo provides the small wire for the end of the return spring rod, but it was to big and when you crimped it, it wouldn't seat in the return spring retaining cap. I found out the new power springs can fly about 6 feet across the room in case you were wondering, so I used the original retaining wire. The Enhanced Mag release is a big part of making this gun run well, it places the shell more in line with the chamber, because it seats the mag higher. Plus the weight of thirty shells in the mag makes the mag kind of sag in the stock PMR, and is why the first ten to fifteen shells have FTF and FTE on the stock PMR. if you didn't do anything else, do the Enhanced Mag release, it is easy and a huge improvement by itself. I put the Enhanced Mag Release also on my CMR 30, which has to be the worst running firearm ever made, but had the potential to be the coolest. Between the Enhanced Mag release and the speed loader, it too rans better, not perfect, at least better. I did polish the stainless steel feed ramp, looks great not sure if polishing helps. The trigger feels good, and looks cool, no change in the 3.5 lb pull, and the dead trigger can be the trigger release bar is not below the safety screw. Another BIG secret is the speed loader, The Maglula loader dents the brass, especially with the last five to ten rounds but this one will load all 30 rounds without dents. you still need to tap the magazine a few times, but it makes loading a lot better. Which is why it runs better when the shells are in the magazine correctly. First full mag ran great with only one FTF, but it was one of those old dented shells, so I didn't count that. Also, if the shells are not loaded correctly it can mar the inside of the plastic mag, and that will not allow your follower to operate smoothly. Which is why MCarbo needs to come up with an aluminum magazine, liked they teased in the video. When you do I 'll take four mags when you get them, plus an improved buffer to complete the make over. The shipping took three weeks because someone decided to hold my order for one part that was on back order six to eight weeks, instead of shipping everything else and sending the slide release later. After a phone call to Customer Service, I had them in a week. I will review the slide release later. The PMR 30 is a fun gun to shoot, now it runs like it is suppose to and I can enjoy it, now what does it take to make the CMR run as well?
Order was quickly received. Installing them was relatively easy after watching the video. At 65 eyes aren’t what they used to be. Great son who helped. Haven’t had a chance to fire yet. Excellent customer, can’t wait to shoot.
I received this kit even more quickly than estimated. Everything is fairly straight forward for a tinkerer/mechanically minded person to get on there. I had to install the magazine retention in on the opposite side, since the 'correct' screw was too stuck in the hinge, but using my brain maid it pretty straight forward. I think you guys should purposely not polish the feed ramp, as its fun and somewhat cathartic to do it yourself :). The hardest part is probably the the spring on the back of said feed ramp and ensuring the c-shaped metal boss it goes into stays seated on the trigger hinge anchor of while putting the halves back together. I recommend being a bit more conservative on the pre/post trigger screws than he starts with in the video (I didn't need to re-adjust after one time fortunately). Love the kit, We took the gun out for its first range test and it worked great.
1st, this company made ordering easy, kept me informed of where the kit was in the mail, and confirmed the delivery. That is great customer service 2nd, the kit itself was well organized, separated and properly marked, in English. 3rd, and very important, the you tube video on how to assemble the parts was really great. Made the whole process work. So, great customer service, a great product that works, as I fired 90 rounds yesterday and the improvements made all the difference in the world. I got this upgrade for my PMR-30. I have cycled about 300 rnds without a feed mishap. Took me about one hour to get all dismantled and put back together. The Video is a must, step by step.
Ok, short and simple. I bought my kit a piece at a time, thinking that was all that I was gonna do! Wrong. I really recommend getting this kit and go for it. Save about $50 too!
These parts are just pure genius. I replaced them myself by watching the video several times. The parts are wonderfully made. The aluminum frame strengthener, the feed ramp, etc., etc., engineered to exactly what this gun needed. The magazine now has less wobble to it. The action cycles so much smoother and better. I can now use my thumb easily to flick the safety back and forth and use my thumb and left hand to release the slide stop easier than that “dame plastic crap” that was there. Thanks, for making a kit like this, I really appreciate it. Consider me now, a part and member of your Brotherhood. You guys are the greatest. Regards, Vincent
I bought the PMR-30 sorta on an impulse buy, thinking man this thing looks interesting, and 30 rounds? Bought.. well as I found out shortly after that, this POS consistently fails to feed. After a few hours of fiddling, and some incredibly unhelpful YouTube videos, I came across MCARBOs breakdown and full kit video. Watched about half of it, said eh what can it hurt to try. The day the kit arrived in the mail, I disassembled the gun, using the video as reference, installed the kit, using the video as reference, (super super informative, by the way) gave er a little frog grease on the action and then proceeded to mag dump 60 rounds out of the back door without a sing jam… (also watched the video on how to do that hahaha) 10/10 the best thing I’ve purchased kit wise for any gun I own. Completely changed this gun. Made it fully functional, and fully fun. If you’re reading this review to gauge if you should buy it or not, do it. Just make sure you’re not a scrub and loose springs

Got my up grade for my pmr 30 everything work well and insulation was easy with the video only problem was the guide rod spring retainer clip was to large for my guide rod I cut it down and made it work without to much problem
I purchased the PMR-30 kit and received it quickly. As KEL-TEC is an hours drive, I made arrangements to have them install the kit. The wife and I made a day of it. We arrived before lunch, met with KEL-TEC who by the way are the most gracious people. They suggested a place to eat while they did the install and tested the weapon. We returned after eating in a water side restaurant that was a most pleasant time. KEL-TEC had completed the install. They praised the modification. We were all happy and the drive home was great. Thanks to M*CARBO and KEL-TEC, job well done!
I'm going to begin my review and rating at 4 stars, only because I have not had the opportunity to test the PMR-30 after I completed the installation. More to follow after actually firing the gun. * The packaging was excellent, no fumbling around trying to identify or locate parts. * I highly recommend that at a minimum you watch the M-CARBO assembly video on Youtube. I placed my laptop on my workbench and followed the instructions every step of the way, often stopping and replaying key segments of the clip to insure I was doing things properly. * For me there were three portions of the process which I found tricky and required additional time to work through - a) Getting the trigger assembly and spring set and seated properly b) Getting the feed-ramp and spring set and seated properly c) Alignment and reassembly of the two halves of the gun after installation of the internal components It took me approximately three hours to complete the bundle installation, with stopping and re-watching the relevant video segments multiple times. My mechanical assembly skills are probably average and I had all the right tooling. I'm excited to get out to the range to test my upgraded PMR-30, if it runs as well as the upgraded gun in the video I will be thrilled with my purchase. In summary: The high quality components were well packaged, excellent video instruction, reasonable price. Just what my PMR-30 needed!
all of the components of this upgrade work as advertised, be sure to follow along with the installation video as it could be a very hard project without it.
Kit looks top notch. Have yet to install it. Communication with MCARBO was quick and easy. They answered all my questions and their product looks better than I expected. Will post again after installation and break in.
