Review
Install was tricky but not that difficult. The spring greatly reduced the heavy trigger pull and now it's much more manageable. Shipping was quick and customer service was top notch. Highly recommended company and products!
Greatly improved trigger pull. A bit of a pain to install but worth it.
This spring is an improvement over the factory spring and reduced the trigger pull over 1 lb. I don’t have a gauge but can definitely feel the difference. I did have a problem though…the spring was bent out of shape enough it rubbed causing trigger pull issues. I had to Ben the end to correct shape and lightly file the end. Worked perfect after that.
I tried following the video tutorial, and found out that something was wrong with my trigger group. I couldn't get it back together, no matter how hard I tried. I opted to just buy a new trigger group, since I've heard the upgrade is marginal at best.
The spring worked great got about a 6lb trigger down to 3.5 lbs consistently with reduced creep. Incredible results, however the video for the 702 plinkster is terribly done, imho. If you can muscle through the video you will get good result, prepare to get frustrated.
I have done many small projects in gun repair, but this project taxed my level of competence. I have installed other Mcarbo springs and was pleased with the ease and results. My negative review mostly reflects my view going into this that it would be a project anyone could do, but this was not the case for me. The written instructions were of no use to me. I suggest a complete rewrite with better diagrams. The online video was better, except I took hours to reassemble the trigger mechanism; I had fits getting the trigger lined up with the pin hole to get the pin in. It required 3 hands or some specialized clamp to push the trigger bar forward and down while I inserted the pin. The little loose pins kept falling out as I struggled aligning these parts. I spent a lot of time on my hands and knees with a magnet to find them. On top of that, I kinked the recoil return spring on removal and had to get a new one. This was entirely my fault. I ordered a new one from Mcarbo. On balance I would say that any improved performance is unlikely to justify my level of frustration and the time it took me to do this.
This spring has made my Rossi RS22 much nicer and more fun to shoot. A lighter touch and reduced time needed to hold on target. The install was a bit of a pain but well worth the effort. Your install video greatly helped. Thanks
Well ironically when I was installing the new Trigger spring I bent the recoil spring putting it back in. “Luckily” mcarbo makes a replacement. I would suggest in the future for mcarbo to make a combo pack with both of these at a discounted price to make it easier for everyone installing the trigger. For the ooops in life.
So I purchased the sir Spring and can't really review it on its functionality due to the fact that I'm not able to install it so far. There have been reviews on here that refer to a video for the 702 plinkster on YouTube. The Rossi RS22WMR has a trigger safety. The trigger assembly is completely different and and it can't be assumed that the U oomed that the user has firearms knowledge. A video on the exact gun that we are going to replace a sear Spring would be would be helpful. I went based off the video bought the Siri Spring before the gun showed up looked very simple I can follow that I put different lower parts kits in et cetera. But when the trigger is not the same as what's on the video it makes me reluctant to start pulling pins out. At went on the forum I have went on different forms trying to get direction and no one seems to have a video specifically changing the Sierra Spring and an RS22WMR as of yet.
After good experience with some there Mcarbo items I figured this was a no-brainer. I was disappointed to find that there is no noticeable difference at all. I know this because my sister has a Rossi RS22 as well so I was able to compare the factory original trigger spring with this Mcarbo upgrade side-by-side at the range. I was disappointed to find that I could to tell a difference between the factory original and this one. In addition, I had a heck of a time with this replacement. While the video instructions are clear, it missed a step that caused me to really try my patience: when you have the trigger assembly out to install this spring...make sure the safety is OFF! It was a royal pain until I did that. Combine the frustration that I had with the installation with the fact that both my sister and I found no difference between the factory trigger and the trigger after this install and I can only report disappointment. At least it works, so I have the factory original as a backup.
It didn't make the hugest difference but it is definitely worth doing
I've got two RS22 bought within 6 month of each other. The tock trigger pull measures almost 4.25 lbs, the MCARBO spring kit reduced the other one to right at 4lbs. When I bought mine it was $12.95, it's currently $7.28 at the price it's a fun learning experience in how to disassemble your rifle, just don't expect much reduction in trigger pull.
A little tricky to install--the youtube video made it possible, otherwise I'd have given up. But has improved the trigger immensely. Well worth the challenge.
You can feel the difference and the video is extremely helpful
Their is a noticeable difference. Very clean pull, and little, video is great tool/aid.
Definitely worth the upgrade, smooth easy job. Just be patient. Much better pull than stock, works out great for my kids!
