Review
Trigger pull and reset is crisp and clean now. Highly recommened
Overall very satisfied with this product. The only thing I would say is, the difficulty removing & installing the rear sight without damaging the sight or small plastic spring stop under it, by a novice is understated in the video.
This is the fourth one of these kits that I’ve installed. Each time I’ve spent a little more time sanding and polishing. To me, they were all great but this one is the best. Experience pays off.
I purchaces a kit a few months ago for my M&P Shield 9mm. Trigger pull was awfull for a 2.0. Pollished parts and installed as decribed in online video. Wow..this is how they should function from S&W. My wife liked it so much she bought a 9mm and I also obtained a 40S&W Shield. We ordered kits for the both and I went through the ritual. Before and after function does make it a ritual compared to what the factory calls a firearm. Also like to add M*CARBO is very fast getting your order to you and packaged so no damage should occure.
Great Shipping. Great kit at any price but this kit is less expensive and easier to install then others. Trigger pull reduced to 3.8 lbs. which is the weight I prefer. This is a great product.
When I started my S&W 9mm Shield, the first version, was gritty and the trigger pull was a little over 6 lbs and gritty not crisp. Now I have an old fashion mechanical, non digital, gauge so exact is not constant. But I looked at the M&P Shield trigger kits on other websites and they were running $160-175 but included a polished striker safety, sear, and all new springs with an aluminum trigger. But for the $25 here I did it myself and saved a pretty penny and got to know my shield inside and out. With the detailed video Chris provides, the whole process only took a few hours and I now have a less than 3lb pull and the original trigger is as smooth as can be. I have not taken it to the range yet, but everything still functions properly and I had no extra parts...lol Anyway if you have the time, desire, and a little patience, anyone can do this. You will need the right tools first. The biggest pain was removing the rear sight, not the set screw but the actual sight itself. They make those suckers SUPER tight and even using a non marring brass tool, nylon tool, and a heavy hammer in a vice, was still a booger. Easier to put back in but next time I remove it, I will replace it with a better aftermarket hi-vis sight. Overall I am thrilled to death to have a crisp clean, mirror polished and no more sharp edges. GREAT PURCHASE and super fast shipping.
Just installed the M-Carbo Trigger Spring Kit on my Shield 1.0 40S&W. Easy job. Did not install the striker block spring unfortunately. Could not get my sight to shift. Another day. Sanded all parts as in the vid. No polishing. Much cleaner and smoother trigger. Went from a 5.65lb average TP over 10 cycles to 4.49 average TP over 10 cycles. Much more consistent. Thank you!!
Used a sight press and installed the Striker Block Spring. Now down to 3.77lbs average TP over 10 cycles. Amazing!! Super clean and crisp.
Parts was easy to install and trigger pull went from 8.5 to 4.2 ... Can’t ask for a better result, Great Kit.
Installed the spring kit today and did the polishing. Watched the video a couple times prior over the past few weeks and did most from memory but did refer back a couple times. The video is excellent. The video shows a 2.0 Shield. Mine is a 1.0. I really didn’t see any difference between the two pistols other than mine had a thumb safety. The thumb safety proved not to be an issue and was easy to work around it leaving it in place. Night and day difference. Average trigger pull before was 5lbs 10oz’s. Average after the trigger job was 2lbs 9oz’s and it’s buttery smooth. More than pleased which is why I jumped on here to do a review. It’s well deserved. Fairly easy install. My right hand is about 50% crippled due to nerve damage and had no issues. The sights were a pain to remove (I removed front and back sight and replaced with XS sights along with this spring kit). Next hardest thing for me was getting the trigger pin back thru the frame and trigger. I kept fiddling with it then all the sudden it shot thru the holes and was in. Here are before & after pics.
Thanks MCARBO. Now my EDC Shield 45 has a nice, smooth trigger pull. Feels like a new pistol and it only took a lazy Sunday afternoon with your you tube video.
Bought the kit several months ago and it was my first purchase from MCarbo. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Got the kit in a couple days. As anyone knows M&Ps are a little labor intensive. Gotta remove the rear sight which the shield has the tightest dovetail ever. But the kit reduced the weight and feel significantly. Huge improvement. I hate the stupid hinge trigger so that will be going bye at some point. Love the products keep em coming!
It took me about a 1 1/2 hours to install and polish. I have only dry fired the trigger so far but, it feels much better with none of the gritty feeling. Looking forward to more accurate shooting with new springs. Very pleased!
I have purchased many various kits from M CARBO. My comments on the S&W Shield Trigger Kit. Initial trigger pull 5lbs 6oz. Cleaned and polished relevant parts per Chris's excellent video on the weapon. Fitted the M CARBO trigger upgrade parts. Final trigger pull 2lbs 12oz. Very pleased. Excellent product once again by M CARBO. Additional comments. In the video' Chris advised putting the synthetic grease w/PTFE all over the mechanism and various parts. In my humble opinion this is a mistake. After following this advice on a few of the various trigger mod kits from M CARBO i had to go back in and remove the grease and coat with CLP. Without doing so I could not achieve trigger pull as advertised. Point in question, i followed the video and trigger pull was 4lbs 1oz. I cleaned away the grease and applied CLP and got 2lbs 12oz. This is not meant as a criticism, rather my experience on the builds so far. FLITZ. I ran a profilometer over the polished parts and was pleased with the RMS values obtained. If FLITZ is in short supply i have used Blue Magic which is a metal polish cream available from auto stores with exactly the same results. It also leaves a protective coating on the parts. Hope this helps someone
Price was very good. Kit did just what it was designed to do. Trigger spring install tool could be rounded on one end to make it easier to push it out with trigger pin. Trigger is way better than before. Thanks and thanks for ur service.
