Only two complaints. One, my gorilla grip stripped out the screws on install. Two, a little pricey for what it is. However, it works, hold zero, and does a great job. Thank God because with the stripped screws it's never going to come off...lol
As of right now there appear to be three different options for optics mounting that allow a Gen 2 Sub 2000 to fold. There is one that mounts to the Mlok slots in the side of the rails, but that option isn't as secure because the mlok rails are plastic. The other one is a rotating handguard, which I haven't tried. This mount allows the optic to flip away to the side, getting it out of the way soothe rifle can fold. Unfortunately, depending on the optic size, it can more than triple the thickness of the rifle when folded. It's otherwise a good option, especially if you are more concerned with length than width when folding the Sub 2000. Another advantage of this option is since the mounting location is closer to the rifles rear sight, you can use optics with less eye relief than is required for rail mounting. It gets the optic at least 4 inches closer to your eye than anything mounted to the rail. It is held in the shooting position under spring power, so if you put any pressure on the sight while aiming, it could move it out of zero until the pressure is removed. I think if I were going to redesign this, I'd use a spring loaded hinge that you push the sight rearward against the spring to unlock a wedge cut into the hinge, then pivot the sight away and have a detent that holds it in place. This would make for a positive repeatable lockup while in the shooting position and would be unaffected by pressure on the sight. It still wouldn't solve the problem of thickness while folded. It's a compromise, but a worthwhile one if you want a mounted optic. If you can't fold the Sub 2000, it really loses a ton of its appeal and utility. So a product like this is really almost essential. If only there were a way to deal with the optic while folded. I suppose the simplest answer is a quick detach .ount for the optic than can be clamped to the bottom rail while folded and the top rail while shooting, but it's a lot slower, and you lose the advantage of getting it closer to your eye. Now that the Gen 3 Sub 2000 is out, this problem has been tackled by KelTec. But for those of us with Gen 2, this is among the better options.
This is a flip mount keeps things compact, when the firearm is folded. The only other decent option is a cheaper twist mount from another vendor that works fine, but isn't as compatible/compact when folded, so I like this better. The spring is pretty [?unnecessarily?] strong, so I cushion the red dot when flipping it open to not snap/shock it sharply every time. Holds true point of aim between uses/opening/closure.
This was a easy installation. Amazing product very well-made
I got mine really like it I made a video of it on the rifle but have not been able to post it it to large and I have not had a chance to work on video so I can post it not to good with these phone but will when I can but I do love it thank GOD BLESSED
amazing product well made with fine craftsmanship. plus my order was here in 2 days.. They seem to process their orders rather quickly as they advertise.
MCarbo got it right with this mount. It solid and holds zero. Shipped fast too. You won’t regret this purchase.
Easy install. A little pricey but performed as designed.
Great solution for red dot sight. Easy install while watching the excellent install video.
I like the mechanics of the MCarbo version. It is well made and strong with perfect alignment. I had bought the Midwest Industries mount first and didn't like it. It was too cumbersome. I would prefer it didn't stick out quite so far, but I can make it work in my go bag that I keep it in.
Great item, easy to installation. With help if the great videos
Just installed mine and it was easy peasy! holds zero after many cycles... love it!
Just installed optic mount on my Gen 2 Sub2K. Went exactly as instructions show. Mounted my red dot, rock solid and perfect co witness. Definetely worth the $ so I don't have to remove red dot to fold carbine.
Easy to install and M*CARBO has great videos on all parts with step by step and tips on installation. 110% and then some! RLTW
