No rough edges, very smooth and nicely weighted drop in piece. You can have more confidence in your M9 once that cheap plastic rod is removed.
Even though there was some question as to fit & function in the Beretta M96A1 (40 S&W) version, I went ahead and replaced the double spring contained guide rod assembly in my pistol. I shot 50 rounds of 165 grain ammo as a test and everything worked properly. I upgraded the pistol with a M*Carbo trigger spring kit as well. As usual YMMV but the SS Guide rod worked in my pistol. Very fast shipping. After receiving it I installed it and was relived to find that it fit my M9A3 just fine. If you are going to be shooting a lot of rounds or are even slightly concerned about wear and tear on the default plastic guide rod, this is your answer.
I ordered this guide rod for my beretta 92x. It comes with a polymer guide rod from the factory so i wanted it replaced with something more solid. This guide rod dropped right in and fit very well and actually made the slide smoother to operate.
