S&W Sigma SW9VE & SW40VE Trigger Spring Kit The major complaint with the Smith and Wesson SW9VE / SW40VE is that is has a very heavy 9-10lb factory trigger pull. This leaves a lot of us looking for affordable SW40VE Accessories to make further...

Great Upgrade for Little Money

I bought a very lightly used SW9VE for $250, with box, manual, and accessories. Had a 10 round mag but three 16-round factory mags were also included. A bargain, especially right now. Anyway, as most people here would know, the only real complaint on this pistol is the trigger - not reliability or accuracy. Oh yeah, the stupid S&W rail, but Glock has their own proprietary rail as well. If it's a carry gun then who cares. Anyway, on to the review.

As mentioned, the factory trigger pull is very heavy. I think the only thing worse is my circa late 1980s Springfield GI model 1911. The little spring in this kit improved the trigger pull 1000%. It's still a little gritty but it's not like trying to lift a 10-pound barbell with your index finger. The installation video was very helpful - I'd say essential. I had my notebook in the garage as I installed the spring and referred to it often.

"putting the trigger mechanism back together is real simple and straightforward" at time index 8:39 made me feel like an idiot because that step took me 30 minutes. Stupid @#$@#$ torsion spring! Finally got it back together after many multiples of retries. This is not a ding on the product, but on my lack of skills and maybe the S&W design. Then again, S&W probably didn't expect this level of disassembly by the end user.

In summary, this is a great product. I can't think of a $12 upgrade for ANY pistol that makes this much of a difference. I bought two kits and am on the lookout for another minty SW9VE. I love the un-loved SWxVE series!

THANKS M*CARBO!

great video. Installation not as simple as portrayed.

I watched the video 6 times so there were no surprises with disassembly. I did, however, encounter a few

unexpected events when reassembling.

1) Factory inner spring is longer than MCARBO replacement. The innerspring tended to bend when assembling.

I used needle nose pliers to hold it in place.

2) The assembly dowel is useless. It should be a tighter fit. I finally used a drill bit to align everything before

installing the press pin.

3) I have no way to measure precisely the pre and post trigger pull force. My experience suggests about a

3-4 pound reduction in pull effort.

Great!

I have always hated the stock trigger in my pistol, this spring makes a world of difference. Buying products from other veterans who then donate a portion to veteran organizations is always a win in my book!

HUGE Improvement

Huge improvement in trigger pull

Just installed this spring to reduce the trigger pull on my S&W 40VE. A very big improvement from the factory 10 lb trigger pull. Before installing this modification I rarely would shoot this firearm because of the heavy trigger pull. I can’t wait to get to the range for some practice. The modification was easy to install and M*Carbo’s video for installation was great.

I no longer hate my SW40

I’ve had my “lawsuit model” Glock-off SW40VE for a while now. (Bought it new when they first came out.) I always kinda loved it but kinda hated it at the same time. I just sort of lived with the 10lb trigger and that was that. Then a couple weeks ago I took my wife to the range and wanted her to get a feel for a .40. (vs. a 9mm) After a few shots she couldn’t even pull the trigger any more. I’ve always felt that my wife should be at least able to use every gun in the house so I went online and looked for a new spring. I ordered this one and I couldn’t be more impressed! It really does knock 50% off the pull weight. The only down side is that I’ve gone like 10 years without having a legit good gun. Thanks guys 👊

If you own this pistol you need this

I don't have a gauge, but don't need one to know this spring is well worth the money, as usual! It will make you like your pistol instead of putting up with it.

The big plus is that this company actually cares about their customers.

I will always buy what I need from them.

Item was exactly as described. Installation was a snap with the video. Shipping was fast and hassle free. I would definitely recommend this kit if you have one of these pistols. I would also buy from MCARBO in the future.

Install was great!

Love that the install video was right on the product page! Video was very comprehensive and easy to follow. Product reduces the “ junk” stock trigger pull greatly! Have yet to hit the range, but some home dry fires are making my trigger finger itch!

The trigger pull was reduced but still a little heavy for my taste. I guess trigger safety is important on a gun with no manual safety. I did not watch the video so I am not sure what the small flexible pin tool was for.

It's ok

Did lighten the trigger up a bit but still well over 8lbs not 5lbs. Not a total fail but not even close to advertised trigger weight. I will say I have used other mcarbo sprin kits for other guns with great success but this one not so much

Fast shipping, great packaging, and the tutorial video on you tube was awesome. I had watched it several times before starting the project but still had to go back and check orientation on a part! Thanx all, will definitely be a return customer.

Lighter pull and still reliable after spring install

Install Instructions were great. Assembly Dowel included was too thin and so not useful. No light strikes after install so no negative impact on reliability. Trigger pull after install measured an average of about 7lbs on my digital trigger gauge which was a bit disappointing since had been expecting 5-6 lbs. It was worth changing the spring since the original trigger pull was over 10 lbs.
