I watched and rewatched the video before diving in. The disassembly was a breeze, and I did my best to keep the small parts separate and organized. Still, after polishing and cleaning, I messed up on one step: the detent/springs for the hammer dog and pawl are nearly the same size. I installed each in the WRONG hole, and the revolver would not function when reassembled. Not knowing what else to try, I reversed them, and sure enough all was well. So, keep them separate and labeled! Haven't had the gun to the range yet, but the DA is butter smooth; SA feels about the same. Good luck!
Install is easy, cleaning up what Ruger doesn’t is a little more work. The trigger pull is now very smooth double or single action. The grease does a great job of holding shims in place while you reassemble. Overall this is a great simple way to improve your Ruger. If (when I) get another Ruger I’ll be ordering again! Well done!
I installed this kit with the help of the M*CARBO video on YouTube. I was very impressed with the product quality and the fantastic improvement it made to my firearm.
The kit was easy to install as well as delivered very quickly. The shims weren't needed for this pistol as the pistol was barely fired and the primary reason for the kit was to ease trigger pull. The fit didn't require them, no slop or wear to shim. I would recommend this product and I'd recommend buying it from MCARBO
Highly recommend Expect to spend an hour doing all the procedure Trigger pull cut by half
I installed the kit in my Ruger SP101 22LR and it made a world of difference. Single Action trigger pull is now 2.3lb average on 10 pulls using Lyman Digital Gauge and the Double Action pull has come down to 6.9lb average over ten pulls. The shims tighten all side play up, and a complete polishing with the polishing kit took care of all internal parts and any areas on the frame that the action parts came into contact with. Those are huge differences from the 6lb single and over 12 (off Lyman scale) on the double action. The bench block is great to have for taking the hammer spring off and putting the new one on. Make sure that you polish the hammer rod, especially the edges. I used 1000 paper first then a lot of polishing to eliminate any friction between those edges and the spring and also do the top of the rod where it sits in the trigger plunger. Reduce friction and rough edges in every area and your gun will be baby butt smooth!
Kit has the springs you need, the shims for the trigger and hammer, add in a little polishing of parts with 1000 and 2000 grit sand paper and there you go. A somewhat gritty ~10lb trigger pull is now a 7lb super smooth DA pull.
Have not installed this one yet. But expect it will be perfection like other MCarbo revolver kits I have installed.
Stumbled upon Mcarbos video about trigger upgrades after my recent purchase of a Ruger SP100 9mm. As always whenever I buy a new gun (all too often nowadays) I always try to research about it. Bought all the equipment on the video for under $50 and was able to really make the gun special. Thanks for the equipment band the instructions even more so!
Great product with an easy to follow instructional video.
Got this kit for my wifes SP101. Out the box she could not pull the trigger in DA or pull the hammer back for SA. Swapped the hammer spring only and makes a huge difference. DA and SA feel smooth
The kit was right on, made my GP100, like they say " work like butter ". But it was the video that sold me. Without the in depth video they took time to make I would not have likely purchased the kit. Great job that your end men and thank you for your service. Thanks
I recommend this spring kit combined with polishing the internals of you revolver. M CARBO has a very comprehensive video that walks you through the processes and helps you dial everything in. I am very happy with my SP101 now that I have completed installation.
The product Chris sells is top notch. Since I have never before done a gun mod I certainly picked one of the most challenging one to do first. His video made it so easy. I now have a trigger pull slightly over 3 pounds on my Ruger GP100. Excellent customer service that comes with excellent quality product. I went into the website and ordered my next project immediately. Thanks! Stay strong brother.
I ordered one of theses spring kit about a month or two ago to try it out. It worked so well that I ordered another for my other gun. Makes a fantastic difference in trigger pull for both single and double action.
This trigger spring kit worked great for my Ruger GP 100. It helped reduce heavy trigger pull from original manufacture. Definitely recommend to others.
