Thanks for a great video of the installation have never done anything like this and was able to complete the installation with only minor problems. It's like I have a different pistol, feels great. The minor problem was when I installed the trigger assembly, the latch pin would not come out far enough to allow me to pull the trigger all the back or install the hammer. A few hits with my plastic hammer allow the pin to move back.. Don't know if it was the cause of the weaker trigger spring or just my GP100. Thanks again for a great product and video...
I've done four spring and shim jobs on my Rugers and I love the kit!! The video Chris did was fantastic and coupled with the IBOK I was able to turn some old wheel guns into "better then new" standouts!! I DID notice some small variations. When I did my first GP100 I found the trigger return spring channel was NOT 1/4" but 13/64" - not a problem, I just grabbed a different drill bit and carried on. I used one 1/64" smaller to hold the 1000 grit sandpaper to polish up the channel. I was surprised to see that the GP100 had a slightly longer stock hammer spring than the SP101. Nevertheless I installed the MCARBO spring in the GP100 and it works perfectly, so no worries. I highly recommend taking your time to work on the "stamped" parts (hammer strut, hammer dog, trigger plunger, etc.) to smooth out all the rough edges not just polish them. Keep up the good work, MCARBO!!
Using all of the parts included definitely improves the smoothness of the trigger pull motion, and does reduce the pull tension. Understand though, this process does not give you a hair trigger effect.
Took my time installing the spring kit for my Ruger SP101 357. Watch Chris video while installing - very helpful, rewound video when needed and polished parts turn out GREAT. Best money spent on firearms in years. Thanks for a great product. Vollmer
The installation of the trigger spring set, and the polishing of interfacing parts seemed like a daunting and difficult process. The tutorial video and the cautions and hints presented along the way made this possible for me. I had never even touched a firearm until I was 65 years old. Since that time, I have fallen in love with shooting and have purchased and used a variety of handguns and participated in a couple of womens’ shooting organizations. I completed this complete trigger job using the polishing tips, shims, springs, and polishing compound provided with my order. The job did take me about 5 hours, but this was due to my inexperience and need to stop and rewind to watch some tricky parts multiple times. I am so pleased and proud to have accomplished this project successfully, and the gun action is so smooth. You know the parts and instructions are great if a grandma going on 70 years of age can feel confidence to undertake the project and successfully complete all the steps (and not loose any tiny flying springs). I also completed the spring update on my Sig P238, thanks to MCarbo parts and video tutorial. I learned a lot and am pleased with the results I obtained!
Thanks to M*CARBO I received my order promptly! The springs only kit made a noticeable difference in trigger pull, which I am pleased with. I am now convinced that the complete trigger kit will produce a more perfect experience while shooting. A smooth trigger pull means everything to accurate shooting! I am treating all my stiff guns now! I only replaced the springs, and wow what a difference. I did not do any of the polishing as shown in the video, I’m happy with what Inhave now!
These would only offer minimum improvement if it not for the polishing set .
After seeing the video for the springs and polish on the SP-101 and hearing that there is ~ 50% decrease in the trigger pull, I jumped on this. I've had the SP-101 chambered in .357 Mag for at least 10 years now and struggle with the double action while target shooting because of the heavy pull. Overall, I found the tolerances with my revolver were much better than what was shown in the video but was still able to utilize shims in the trigger and hammer. Since I was tearing the pistol down, I would go ahead and polish just to help make it as smooth as possible. The video as always from MCARBO is great. I give this product 3 stars simply because I do not feel any difference in the trigger weight in double action. I do not have equipment to measure the weight of the trigger, so I don't have quantitative before and after comparisons. Only what I feel. I should note that I have done springs for my P365 from MCARBO and felt the difference with that. I just recently installed the short stroke flat trigger and that too has made a huge difference on the P365.
After finding this item, checking out reviews. And watching the installation video, I said what the hell and purchased this hammer and trigger spring kit and the polishing kit. I will say this, the video was very well done, which made the task pretty damn easy. My issue is this though. I followed the video to the T, even pausing and rewinding enough to drive my wife nuts, but I still don't really notice that much of a difference. Yes I did have to cheap out on a trigger pull gauge, but still when you actually pull the trigger and or hammer back, you would think you would notice the change. Hell I dunno, maybe it's like everything else and the springs just needs "broke in".
Great product definitely made a big difference on both guns. Side note. Had a issue with the 22lr M*carbo brothers went above and beyond to help me out. Definitely appreciate the honesty and dedication. I would highly recommend them.
Had the pleasure of having your team install this on my SP101, after seeing your youtube vid on this. Couldn't be happier, and the lightning fast turnaround was icing on the cake!.
Very happy with the product. YT video was very helpful. Thanks!
Loved the fact of a "speed" loader revolver, but hated the trigger on my SP101 9mm............ Until NOW ! Awesome video..... and to quote......"like butter". NIGHT & DAY difference. Unbelievable difference !!!!
for enabling me to vastly improve my Ruger. The video on YouTube was awesome and made it possible to step by step perform the work.
I watched the video, printed a couple pages from the instructions, and then watched the video again as I did the job. What an improvement! I had no idea that my revolver had so many burrs and rough edges and wear spots on the trigger and hammer assemblies. After polishing and installing the new springs, the trigger pull is now smooth and easy. Thanks for a great product and terrific customer instruction.
This kit provides everything you you need for a new revolver, or a rebuild of an older one. If it’s not in this kit you don’t need it. I’ll be ordering this kit for my other Ruger’s.
