I have had my SP 101 for over 20 years. I changed the springs years ago but the trigger was still not great. I saw the M*Carbo kit and watched the video and new this was what my SP 101 needed. I did the full polish job and changed the springs. The video made it easy. I also got the muzzle lapping kit and did the full package on the SP 101. What a difference in the trigger. The double action is fantastic. Thanks Chris for making a good gun great.
Done in 2021. Replaced spring & polished bearing surfaces. Took about 7 hours of work mainly because I was clumsy in disassembling and reassembling. but was eventually successful. Followed the online video instructions which were excellent. Reduced original DA trigger pull to 5.5-6.0 lb. Reduced SA trigger pull to 3.5 lb. Revolver is now much smoother and more accurate. Recently purchased this kit after watching the VERY detailed video that was available. The video influenced me to get the kit (wife's gun, brutish stock trigger pull). Arrived quickly and as described, highly satisfied. Not one to write reviews, but I was compelled , once again, by the video, which is one of the better pieces of work I've seen out there. Performance following the modification was as advertised and I recommend it. I also ordered the crown polishing kit to remove some small manufacturing marks and burrs and it also performed as advertised. Great product. On a side note, one thing I wasn't prepared for was the size of the parts involved. Chris's video is done under magnification, for clarity. In reality, these are some pretty small parts! I'm not mechanically challenged, so it wasn't a big deal, but be aware! This is no job to be performed with the 'Whiskey Shakes' LOL!....
My first trigger job on a revolver. I didn't measure the trigger pull prior to working on the trigger. The finished double action pull was > 8 lbs and off my gauge and the single action pull was 2.75 lbs. The trigger was better than it was previously. The istallation video was very good. The springs in the 22LR kit could have been lighter.
I am no gunsmith, but after watching the installation video I thought I could handle it. All needed parts were included. Instructions clear and concise, and process relatively straight forward. With the exception of losing the cylinder latch sprig and detent, and having to order replacements, went as well as I hoped. Trigger pull smooth and certainly lighter. Dont have a pull gauge, but am betting got reduction from 10-11 to around 5-6. Highly recommend the spring kit, polishing kit, and sandpaper. Ready to head to the range
This is a quality kit with everything you need to do the job. The installation video was superb and easy to follow. ended up with a little over 3 lbs. single action and a little less than 10 lbs. trigger pull double action. I did the deburring and polishing of the various parts and it is soooo smooth. I would suggest deburring the crane passageway because it had numerous burrs also.
Great setup! Couldn't have done this without the video. Unfortunately I lost the pawl spring lol and had to get a new one. Lol works perfectly now so smooth. Made my favorite gun even sweeter thank you!!
This is my second kit and they work great. Made the trigger pull double and single action so much better.
Easy install after watching video, amazing difference in trigger pull, wish I had access to trigger pull gauge. Only drawback on my part, I didn’t see the polish kit and ran all over town to build my own. Highly recommend, turned an ok gun into a great gun
The SP-101 TRIGGER SPRING KIT arrived on time as promised. I watched their 90 min video on the SP-101 trigger job and learned a few things even though this is my third SP-101 trigger job. Installed their new trigger and hammer springs along with their hammer and trigger shims. New trigger & hammer pull is now less than 1/2 of what it was before trigger job. The springs and shims seemed of very high quality & I would purchase again. Their SP-101 trigger job video is the best I've seen & you should invest 90 min to watch it also if you intend to do an SP-101 trigger job in the future. RME
Put this kit in my Ruger SP-101 to reduce the trigger pull. The parts arrived quickly during the Xmas rush. Everything was of high quality, the parts fit, and the MCARBO instuction video made it all make sense.
I used this video to fine tune my GP-100 with some wolf springs. Then I ordered the MCARBO kit for my SP-101. Turned out slicker than snot as we used to say. Best video that I have seen on fine tuning a Ruger. Thanks gentlemen! Hooah!
I am a novice gunsmith. Used this kit on my personal handgun. polished all parts as done in your video and installed shims. definitely smoothed the action and reduced double action pull weight. However I have encountered a few light primer strikes after the upgrade. Will continue to test with various ammo but at this time can not recommend for a self defense weapon.
Put one kit in a SP101. Used both springs, the hammer shims, and did the drill trick from the video. No other polishing. DA 5lb 11oz, SA 2lb 3oz. Put another kit in a GP100. Used both springs without any shims or polishing. DA 5ib 6oz, SA 2ib 6oz. Was a little worried because the trigger spring was slightly longer than the stock spring. With the consistency between these I plan to order a third kit for another SP101.
I just received the SP101/GP100 Spring/Shim kit. My plans are to perform a trigger job on my new GP100 3" .44 SPL. The kit arrived well packaged, in a timely manner. For small items like like this, 1st Class USPS is the best method to ship. Shipping costs were reasonable and because I live in FLA, State Tax was also charged. The package comes with a reduced rate Trigger and Hammer spring, a small container of PTFE Grease and two (2) color-coded containers for the Hammer Shins (red) and the Trigger Shims (blue). A nice touch. I like that the 'kit' comes complete with everything you need to perform the upgrade. This is my first purchase from M*CARBO, it won't be the last. In fact, I just ordered the Conical Polishing Fobs and the Flintz Ramp polishing kit. I've watched the Trigger Job video several times and believe the task is well within my ability. While I'm not a Gunsmith, I've been working on firearms for the past 45-years and feel very confident, especially with Mr. Nelson's video for quick reference. My initial contact (email) with M*CARBO was to comment on the video. Mr. Nelson was kind enough to respond. In my opinion, he's a good guy.
