Awesome results . Watched the video and went smooth and easy.gun shoots better . Even the mag rounds shoot smoother.
I initially installed only the springs. I cleaned up a lot of the visible metal shavings in the gun and after dry firing a few hundred times it was a night and day difference. Tonight I decided to do the full polish. Wow! It feels much smoother and consistent. The springs do a great job but you really have to dry fire a bunch to get it feeling good. The polish brings it up to another level. I was super conservative with the flitz and if I do it again I will likely finish certain areas better. Do yourself a favor and follow the excellent videos posted here and go for it. I am waiting on a tool to polish out my trigger return spring channel but right now it feels pretty good with just a tiny stick at the end of its reset. I can’t believe how rough these guns are finished. Ruger has a great gun here and they are leaving it incomplete before retail sale.
When I got the sp 101 trigger was so bad I didn’t waste ammo trying to learn the trigger. I bought the spring kit installed it now it’s how it should have left the factory! Thanks for a true drop in solution
I followed the video and my SP101 9mm came out better than I expected. Do yourself a favor and buy the laping tool before you start. Since you have the gun all broke down may as well do that too. I was impressed with the parts and quality in which they were packaged. The video was super easy to follow and very informative. This is a fantastic upgrade to do! Well worth it.
Trigger has perfect double action smooth pull. Much better feel. Primer goes bang everytime. I was worried it would have light primer strikes but it's worked on 7 different kinds of ammo I've tried.
I am so impressed. This is.my go to.kit for sp101. Take your time polish install and use difference. Uber reliable ignition. Shims rarely needed one new sp101's.
I am a gunsmith and I've been buying trigger springs and trigger kits from M.CARBO for a couple of jobs in my shop and their products are great. Fast shipping Great products Great Quality Good prices. I will buy from these folks anytime. Thanks m.Carbo
Gave my Ruger SP101 the trigger job it deserved. Big time improvement. Couldn’t have done without the MCarbo kit and the video. Thanks to the brotherhood!
I have installed this in both a 357 and 22LR GP100s. I am super happy with the results with the 357. However, the trigger return spring was too weak for the 22LR. The symptom of the problem was counter intuitive in that the trigger had to be pulled all the way to the rear with significant force to get the sear to release - very strange. The stock spring had no issues. I then installed an 8lb return spring and that solved the problem. I have not fired the weapon yet to see the performance of main spring, but so far, the feel of the weapon is superb. I'll report back when I get a chance to fire it.
Just finished the spring kit installation and polishing for my SP101 and it made all the difference in the world. The trigger pull is smoother and much lighter. I don't have a trigger pull gauge ,but the SA trigger pull even seems lighter. I watched the video all the way through before I attempted the work. I think the video is the best how-to video I've seen. Think I may do the S&W J Frame next.
I recently got a Gp100 and the trigger is pretty good out of the box. I wanted it to be a little smoother. So while looking at reviews for the gp100, I came across the MCarbo video on how to replace the kit and polish the insides. So I immediately got in the website and purshaed the spring kit and polish kit. Used the video to do it myself and now the trigger feels like a lot smoother. I'm definitely going to continue with the polishing of the insides. Great high quality product and huge difference in trigger pull.
I wanted a 2nd SP101 because I love the size and weight but wanted a 4" as well as the 2.5". I had such success with this trigger spring kit the first time I bought it again, went through the install video a second time. This really does make an amazing difference and if you enjoy working with your hands this install is actually a lot of fun and gives you a different relationship to your firearm.
I performed the spring replacement and polishing of the internal components just as done in the video. The trigger turned out to be very smooth so I am thankful for that. However the trigger weight only decreased from 12 pounds to 9 1/2 pounds. This is a hammerless double action only Ruger SP 101. I then watched the video more closely and the presenter when using the trigger pull gauge tested the trigger pull very quickly. Doing this I can get the trigger weight down consistently to 5 1/2 Pounds. So it all depends on how you use your trigger pull gauge. However if I would’ve use the trigger pull gauge quickly before the spring replacements I would’ve gotten a much better reading as well. This is the reason I only gave it three stars as one can definitely skew the readings from the start to the finish of this process just by how quickly they use their trigger pull gauge.
The trigger springs and shims work great. So far no light strikes and good success with .38 and .357 rounds. Definitely easier to pull the trigger in DA shooting.
SP101 spring & shim kit: install was a breeze, MCARBO video was essential, and very good. I watched the video awhile back and completed the polishing, and reassembled- it made some difference. Received the spring kit at a later date, completed install and a bit more polishing. Big difference overall, double action staging is crisp if you are a fan of that practice. Full pull through is much lighter with little drag at the staging points. I do not own a trigger weight device. This is my first purchase with MCARBO, shipping was quick and quality seems high. I also purchased the Mosin kit but haven’t installed yet. Thanks Chris for the great videos and the well thought out parts.
On the webpage it says modified 4.75 lb DA trigger pull. What's the modified portion? And with 4.75, I am skeptical for reliable ignition. However, curiosity won out and ordered one for my SP101. I did the spring kit and polished the internals per the 1.5 hr video, and I got an 8 lb DA pull. Decrease from 11.5 lb, SA was from 4.5 lb to 2.5 lb. and smooth, so I'm not mad about it. I even used the same Wheeler trigger scale as the video, how'd you get 4 lbs?
