easy install, after watching the instructions works as advertised.
I watched the installation vid a few times.. A no go for me. But I came up w an easier solution to compress the spring ..The small allen key was a critical part. I used two. Compressed in a few steps. Alternating allen keys to get the right amt. I used
The charging handle and tool-less locking pin are great add ons for the Sub-2000 GEN2 but let me tell you, the installation of the locking pin is a flat b**ch!!! Would have given 5* if not for that. Great products and yes I would recommend!!! Thanks MaCarbo!!!
There is a great amount of quality into this item! Smooth edges and extremely solid feel, not to mention super fast shipping! Thank you!
With 3 to chose from it was a tough decision. After installing and using it I am glad I chose the Recoilless charging handle. I did not notice much of a recoil reduction, but there is not much recoil to begin with. What I did notice is it makes the weapon easier to cock or charge. I found the factory charge handle can pinch your finger between the buffer tube and the handle. Looking at all 3 of the Mcarbo ones it looks as though all of them have been designed to avoid the finger pinch of the factory one. Glad I stuck with the low profile one, as this is a moving part I could see the length of the 2 finger charge handle catching on clothing or a body part (ouch) which would cause the gun to have a malfunction. Fast shipping, great customer service, quality parts
This was my first modifications and by far the hardest. If I had to do it over again I would just as soon pay for the spring already connected to the new style pin. To be honest it was partially my fault as I didn't have the correct tools for the job. After trying for over an hour and a half to place the new pin on the spring, I was exhausted and sweating. I did this completely using brute force and wished I had 3 hands for this part of it. Once the pin is connected to the recharge spring it was a breeze. Anyway, maybe they could sell the spring with that new pin already attached? I would've gladly paid a little more for that.
the Sub2000 is not forgiving ... sore shoulder and bruised cheeks ... nothing to absorb the recoil. I added some of your accessories, the recoilless charging handle, the recoil buffer, and the tube cover, and now very fun to shoot, and recoil is about like my AR's. I added the rear sight upgrade which also gives me a more natural sight line. This is now a fun shooter and a good 'get of town' weapon!
this adds noticeable weight to the firearm but it smooths out the cycling a lot. i get a better hold on it when charging, too, compared with stock.
You’ll be surprised by the robust design and it’s a heavy little guy.
Installed, and what a difference in charging the Sub, and it doesn't bite like the stock charging handle. It did "soften" the recoil as advertised.
Those extra 2 ounces make a noticeable difference. I shot it with the buffer and tube cover and it was much better. I shot it today with the heavy bolt and it was very pleasant. If you have the .40 I’d recommend the pad, recoiless charging handle and heavy bolt.
While I was warned about the potential troubles for us geezer types, I order the recoil-less charging handle. It was a bit tricky as you warned in the thorough installation video, it was doable with the right tools. The videos are a real resource for the novice gunsmith. You made the upgrade tasks easy, straightforward and successful.
