Bought an LCP II just over a year ago, last trip to the range it started dropping the magazine I had bought another spring from Ruger literally 200 rounds later it started happening again. Bought this bad ass spring from M Carbo and have shot 500 rounds through it with no mag drops. I know what everyone might be thinking no I was not hitting the mag release upon firing the firearm. Easy to install and fixed the gun.

Mag kept dropping no matter where i gripped it or how hard. Gun became very unreliable. Tried the heavier spring. Works great . Mag has not disengaged yet. This is a must have upgrade.

My LCP II was always a nice carry gun, and it performed well for many hundreds of rounds, but alas, apparently the mag release spring became fatigued over time and I was experiencing mag drop about 3 out of 5 rounds. While I had the pistol apart to upgrade the mag release spring, I also changed out the trigger spring for a 2.5-pound trigger pull. I went straight to the range and ran 50 rounds through it with zero malfunctions! The trigger was good out of the box, but this trigger job makes it even more pleasant to shoot!

The installation video was clear and easy to follow. It gave me the confidence to scatter my pistol knowing that I’d have no problem with reassembly.

Regardless of the mag release spring in some cases mag can eject simply because of mag being too loose in the mag well. If you insert mag body (guts removed) into the well, use flashlight and "play" with the mag's bottom a little, you may notice that mag wall to catch engagement is close to none. If one uses mag base with finger rest, then depending on grip and other circumstances during fire mag may disconnect. I put a 1 1/2 turn of electric tape around the mag at the very base to provide stability and tested results with several types of ammo - no "premature ejection". Lost "free fall" is compensated with reliability. Another approach would be modification of the mag itself, but I cannot recommend it to an average DIY.

I've had trouble with the magazine releasing on its own usually while I was carrying it in my pocket. Changed the spring, cheap easy fix watched the video. Made it a simple operation. No more unwanted releases. Thanks

The LCP2 Magazine release spring is excellent and keeps the magazine in well without inadvertent mag drops. It was ease to install and MCARBO had very good deliver, updates and follow up. Do not punch out the middle pin on the back of the gun or else you will spend a lot of time trying to put the hammer pin and spring back in.

The mag release was definitely more "solid" when pressed with a loaded magazine. However, it was still a very loose fit (Ruger design issue I'm thinking) when an unloaded magazine is inserted. While I have not had a chance to try the "fix" at the range yet, it feels as though it will do the trick.

One note during reassembly, make sure the hammer catch that remains in the gun frame, after the loading block and hammer have been removed, stays in the forward position so as to align with the hammer properly after assembly. I had to wedge a small pocket flat blade screw driver, through the mag well, to hold the hammer catch in place while reinserting the loading block and trigger mechanism and spring. The hammer catch is spring loaded to roll it backwards if the hammer is removed.

I also like the "trick" that one of the reviewers suggested with the electrical tape at the bottom of the mag to tighten up the slack in the mag to mag well fit.

took my new lcp 2 to range what a disappointment mag was dropping about every other shot, gripping pistol in different ways did not help.

with the snappiness of the little ruger my fingers were somehow tripping that release button, could only successfully shoot by blocking mag with my hands when firing no easy task, found this spring upgrade online, used the install video and my trip today at range with over 100 rounds shot no mag drops, spring tension now feels more in line with my walther, sig, and browning autos

Mag Falling Out

I’ve had my LCP 2 for about 5 years now and I haven’t shot it much since the pandemic and the cost of 380. But I finally had a chance to go to the range and every time I shot my magazine would drop. At first I thought it was me, but I quickly realized the spring must’ve given out because no matter how I held it the mags kept falling out. I even bought a new mag hoping this would solve the issue but it did not. Purchased this $10 spring hoping to not have to ship my gun to Ruger and pray for a speedy return. Thankfully I just finished installing it today and after a whole box of ammo I didn’t have a single failure. I am super grateful for the amazing products Mcarbo produces and even more grateful for the AMAZING instruction video!

This new spring is definitely much better than the stock spring. Even though I have not put a lot of rounds through it, the mag would pop out unexpectedly. The mag release now has a more positive feel.
