For the money? Great spring kit

I was hesitant about installing an Apex trigger into my 509 Midsize as it was recommended that you buy a special block just to install the trigger. This spring kit makes a noticeable difference and the installation is doable. If you’ve installed Glock and Sig trigger components, this will be a mildly harder task but can be accomplished. The installation video is what made all the difference, otherwise it’d be impossible. One of the changes I’ve noticed is that the trigger breaks precisely and without stacking as before. I installed the factory striker spring to compare and noticed the same thing; the other springs in the kit do a great job of mitigating the perceived stacking feel once your finger hits the “wall”. I lack a trigger gauge but I believe 4.25-4.5 pounds is a very accurate assessment of what the weight is. Overall I’m highly impressed. The reset is a bit softer but still audible and tactile, but for a defensive pistol I feel that the setup is more than adequate.

Here is my message to someone looking to buy this kit: Buy it. Pay attention the the installation video and watch it a few times before doing the install. Make sure you have all the right tools beforehand, you won’t regret it. It will make a difference especially if you run an optic on your pistol. For the money it’s a good piece of kit for your weapon.

Excellent work M*CARBO.

509 tactical

the good

out of the box avg.8 1/4 lb. nasty gritty trigger pull, after a clean and install mcarbo spring kit i had a avg. smooth and sweet 4 lb. trigger pull and not a shot fired. i then loaded up 100 rounds from powder puff to big dog no problems

the better

the mcarbo video. watched 3 times beginning to end no fast forwarding and by then i'm thinking easy peasy and it is when you learn the video and do exactly as laid out and more importantly know when to back off and take a break when a hint of frustration enters the process.

the best

i narrowed my choices down to a trigger assembly that supposed to take care of the 509 issue at $150 or the mcarbo spring kit for $20. i felt this gun is a keeper so i figured for a $20 investment i get to tear down the pistol and put it back together and gain a working knowledge of the gun itself and the possibility of saving $130 in the process

the bottom line

the spring kit did what it was designed to do and i am more than satisfied with the results and have no need for a different trigger.

Good choice

The kit works fine and reduced my trigger pull to just over 4 lbs. it’s a bit tricky to install, but if you follow the instructional video you will do fine.

Installed this kit in combo with mirror polishing all contact surfaces on the striker, striker block, and sear. The trigger wasn’t bad to begin with but was heavy as hell. Mine broke consistently over 7lbs. It’s now just over 4lbs and breaks as crisp/clean as a nice single action trigger! For the price, you absolutely cannot beat it. No need To spend $150 on an apex trigger to get a really nice feeling trigger. 100% recommend this kit if you have a little mechanical aptitude and can polish a few parts without taking off any material or changing any angles.

first time trying this on any of my firearms, went flawless thanks to the how to video, someone mentioned watch the video before you try it and i agree completely if nothing else to make sure you have the right tools, i laughed at the grease but realized how neat of a trick it is to hold that spring in place, you can do it without like i did but it would have been easier with. dont have a gauge but noticed much less movement at the range. every little bit helps !

Perfect, it works as stated, my FN509 never felt better in trigger pull. The price is worth every cent in getting your FN509 trigger pull smooth, and with less pull weight.

As SEAL Team-1 would say, during CQB training, "Smooth is Fast"

This spring set reduced my trigger pull by more than a pound. But what was more impressive was the worth ethic and dedication of the company; not only were my springs shipped the next morning, but they also followed up with an email with a video link providing informative step by step instructions. No guesswork.

After watching the excellent installation video on YouTube I ordered three FN509 spring kits. The kits were installed in FN509T, FN509CC, and FN 509LS. Installation went very well. All three 509's have greatly improved triggers but the LS trigger is now awesome. I don't have a trigger weight gauge, but a guess would be that the LS now has a trigger pull of about three pounds. Just need some range time now to see how good the triggers really are.

I wasn’t super impressed with my FN509 trigger out the box even after 1k rounds. Found this spring set and gave it a try with an apex trigger. You can tell these aren’t just some springs in a pack, they really did there homework to get this set up to work right. All I can say is wow! This made a world of difference in the gun and would recommend anyone with this pistol to give it a try the video also makes it fool proof if you’re nervous. Thanks fellas, for setting me up with a great gun!!

If you don’t have the experience of taking pins out of polymer frames, please ask your local gun smith to do the work. This product really does improve trigger pull weight. I’m very happy I tried it out and someone recommended it to me.

Great Upgrade for FN 509 Compact MRD Trigger

Review

First, Shipping was really fast. I ordered the FN 509 trigger spring kit on a Wednesday night and received notice of shipping the next day.

I purchased a FN 509C MRD which had a very gritty take up and fairly heavy trigger pull. My Lyman trigger pull gauge measured an average 7 lb. 3 oz. trigger pull. After polishing some trigger components (mainly sear to striker interface) and installing the spring kit the average trigger pull was reduced to 4 lb. 8 oz. with a smooth trigger take up.

Great upgrade for FNS-9 too

Installed and tested in an early FNS-9 Longslide stainless, as well as a newer 4.25" model (I'm in Canada). Reduced both from 5.5 lbs to 4.0 lbs. The tutorial made the sear assembly dead easy. Runs great, works flawlessly so far, tested with a 50rnd box of Remington UMC. If anything changes I'll change my review; I seriously doubt that will happen though, judging by past experiences with M*Carbo product. Job well done, I fully endorse!
