Product Information

About This Item

  • Extra Power Recoil Spring - 25% stronger than OEM recoil spring.
  • High Quality Chrome Silicon Spring Material.
  • Reduces felt recoil:
    • With small compact guns, recoil can be very "snappy" and feel worse than a Full Size pistol. A stronger recoil spring will help absorb the energy in the slide and reduce the felt recoil.
  • Better feeding reliability:
    • Stronger recoil springs will push the slide back into battery quicker and with more force to feed the next round into the chamber more reliably.
    • Increased reliability and accuracy by improving barrel and slide lock up.
  • The slide will have more momentum returning to battery, pushing the sights back down faster for quicker sight picture return and more accurate follow up shots.
  • Compatible in all Kimber Micro 9 models and variants.
    • Not compatible with the Kimber Micro 380 models.
  • Improves control and stability of your Kimber Micro 9 pistol.
  • The perfect upgrade for worn out/old recoil springs as Kimber recommends in their Kimber Micro 9 User Manual to replace the recoil spring every 1,500 rounds for the 9mm models.
  • Made in the USA!
  • Fast Same Day Shipping!

After shooting the Kimber Micro 9 my hand felt very much worked with the factory recoil spring. The gun's smooth trigger makes it easy to pop off rounds quickly but it sure is a snappy pistol and you do feel the recoil over medium to large pistols of course. My right hand was indeed tired from shooting. Read someone else's review on how it made the felt recoil softer so I ordered the recoil spring. Now I WILL agree with another person's review the reassembling of the recoil spring (which is longer than the stock spring) IS much more difficult than the original recoil spring. Ok I admit my fingers aren't callused or tough by any means but this was NOT easy to reassemble. Now for the good news. I took it to the range 11/20/2023 and shot 30-40 rounds and I can say it DOES seem to soften the felt recoil and was not as snappy. My hand did not 'hurt' after shooting. The gun cycled perfectly and I had no failures of any type (FTF/FTE). I did notice it was stiffer to rack the slide with the new spring.

This was a very good upgrade for the Kimber Micro 9 and thanks to MCARBO for producing a high quality 14 pound recoil spring. I know there is another manufacturer that makes a 22 lb recoil spring for the Kimber Micro 9 so good luck to anyone trying to compress that spring. If there are any suggestions/recommended method for compressing and installing the recoil spring please share and post. Now if only someone can invent a spring compressor. MCARBO - you listening? Grin.
It's more powerful all right!

Reassembly of the Micro 9 with the stock recoil spring is no walk in the park. This spring makes the task a bit harder. At least for me. The spring looks visually like it is very well made and is of robust material.
It took me 2 days to get the Micro 9 reassembled... I'm sure that's partly me and my 'tender' thumb and in my mind it also speaks to the need for a captured recoil spring assembly for this pistol, if that is even possible the way the pistol is constructed.
Anyway, I have not yet had an opportunity to take it to the range. The manual cycling of the slide seems a little bit 'stiffer' yet not by a huge amount, but that may just be me as well.
I look forward to the range session where I will be looking for the reduced recoil impulse experience, and will update with another review afterward.
Noticeably improved shooting experience

Adding this new spring from MCARBO significantly softened the felt recoil when shooting my Kimber Micro 9 Rapide Dawn. During a range day - you could feel that you’re shooting a Micro pistol. After installing this stronger recoil spring this Micro 9 now shoots and feels like a full size pistol. In addition to being my EDC it is now my favorite pistol to shoot at the range.

Note: The slide feels heavier to rack

Back story: I was about to purchase a Wilson Combat SFX9 when I was introduced to the Kimber Micro 9 Rapide Dawn. By comparison, the Kimber’s trigger was heavier and the recoil was super snappy, however with the addition of this MCARBO recoil spring and MCARBO trigger kit, my Kimber Micro 9 shoots and feels like WC SFX9 at 1/2 the cost. I’m really pleased I took this leap of faith.

Question:
Does this affect the force needed to rack the gun?

Answers
Yes and no. Our recoil spring is designed to be initially stronger in the cycling of the slide (for better feeding reliability) and then smoothen out to a reasonable racking force when the slide is fully racked back. Our recoil spring is still stronger than OEM when fully racked back, factory = 11 lbs to M*Carbo = 14 lbs.

Question:
Hi, do you have the difference in whatever is the standard measurement for the force of a spring (Newtons?) between the stock spring and this extra power spring? It would be interesting to know what the ratings are for the two springs. Thank you!

Our recoil spring is designed to improve feeding reliability so the "initial" force when the slide is in battery is stronger than OEM (~8lbs to OEM's 5lbs). And the stock recoil spring has about an 11-12 lbs racking force and ours is around 14-15 lbs after they break in. We wanted to focus more on feeding reliability while still reducing recoil, so you are going to feel it more in the initial part of racking the slide back.
