Fix for Ruger LCP 2 - .380

Review

So I bought a new Ruger LCP 2 - in .380 and the first two boxes of ammo I was having trouble with the magazine. It was dropping out into my hands after every shot. I thought I was just holding it wrong (although I hold all of my other pistols in the same way without any problems). So I tried altering my grip a little bit and nothing seemed to help. So I drove home thinking I was going to sell the pistol and get something different, but then I looked around on the internet and saw that other people were having the same problem. Inadvertently pressing the magazine eject button when the snappy little LCP recoils. So, yes, turns out I too was accidentally hitting the magazine eject button with my hands after firing a round. And this was happening after every round. Hardly a tolerable situation with a concealed carry pistol. So I found M-Carbo and their improved magazine button spring. I bought one and it arrived a few days later and I installed it. I went out shooting that weekend and TADA! Problem fixed. A nice stout magazine ejector button spring was all it too. Now I can carry this little bugger with confidence that it will work when/if I ever need it too. And dont forget to buy some good carry rounds - Hornady Critical Defense. All set with my little .380 and my CYA iwb holster.

Fixed myself after sending back to Ruger

The LCP 2 is notorious for dropping the mag during firing. It started happening after around 200 rounds. I called Ruger and sent it back. They replaced all kinds of parts and sent it back. All was good for around another 200 rounds and then it started falling out again. All is good with this M-CARBO fix. Ruger needs to learn from this. This is a serious design flaw. Perhaps folks don't shoot their guns enough to know this will start happening. Thank you M-CARBO for this fix and the awesome video on installing. Had no problems installing.

After about 300 rounds, my LCP II started releasing mags while firing. Installed this well designed spring in just a few minutes after watching the installation video. Problem solved! No more dropsies!

Definitely do not have to worry about accidental mag drop . Does the job it's supposed to ! Definitely need the slotted flathead screwdriver that they offer to get spring in place. If you have that or something like it, easy installation.

Great fix!

My less than year old LCP II was dropping mags like poop from a goose. I have five and none would stay in the gun over three rounds in spite of the fact my finger was no where near the release. Put this spring in using the very helpful YouTube video and the problem went away! Put over a hundred rounds through it today and no failures. Why didn’t Ruger do this to begin with?

Great product!

No more accidental mag releases! Makes the mag release nice and firm. You have to want to push the button. Not so firm that it is hard though. A nice balance for sure!

Heavier magazine release spring

I had a RUGER LCP that had a problem with the magazine becoming un-seated when being shot. The heavier magazine release spring provided by MCARBO is noticeably heavier but not overly so. Still easy to depress by the thumb. Works as advertised and is a fix to keeping the magazine seated.

I usually go with factory parts

But after I bought a full set of Ruger LCP springs. rods and retainers the gun dropped mags more often then the old ones and the extended finger mags were now almost unusable. After many years of being a very reliable gun it took a turn for the worse. So I can only say this, if you have a mag drop issue don't bother sending it back to Ruger just replace the mag spring with this little improvement. Works great and I no longer have a concern carrying this gun anymore. To the gentleman that the shipping cost stopped him from buying I thought about that and then I envisioned myself on the ground bleeding out because I didn't want to spend another 6 bucks.

I was hoping this would solve the problem of the magazine constantly dropping. Installed the spring and headed to the range. Put 100 rounds through it and not one magazine drop. Problem solved. Happy customer.

Just what I needed

As a lefty, my belt would tend to push on the mag release and I'd notice a loose mag. So far, the mag has not released. Such a critical part on the LCP II with a smaller caliber & little capacity, can't risk only getting one shot off and trying to load that dropped mag.
