The M*Carbo shock buffer does soften the bolt assembly actuation relative to the factory original. It, in all probability, will reduce wear and tear on both the firearm and the operator. Simple replacement process no more complex than a thorough cleaning of the firearm. In conjunction with the M*Carbo stainless steel buffer retention clip will lessen the likely hood of down time at an inconvenient moment.
I got in this as the prototype, which I believe ended up being the final product. This is a MUST have. I installed the upgraded trigger components and the recoil spring prior to installing this buffer and was thoroughly impressed with the performance, then I added this buffer! Wow. It made a huge difference. Hardly any recoil to the shooter's shoulder. Last round hold open worked 100% which I read may be a concern.The addition of this buffer has perfected my rifle.
Ordered the PC9 Shock Buffer prototype and was amazed at the quality. Install was relatively quick and easy. I went to the range and put 100 rounds of 115 grain ammo through my Ruger with no issues. The new Buffer made a definite difference in the vibration and shock felt in my carbine. Another excellent upgrade!!
I am very satisfied with the buffer pad I bought it with the stainless steel spring retainer ring. Noticeable difference and no more loud bolt slapping. Well worth the money and you wont regret it. I've bought all the mcarbo parts except the extractor and head bolts which I will buy in the next month or 2.
The five stars is for the ease of installation. I have had a chance to fire the rifle since I installed it. Boy howdy, does that area get dirty with all that blowback!

I went to the range and installed the buffer. Installation was easy as pie! The buffer made a noticeable difference in the felt recoil with all tested loads. It also got rid of a thunk I could both feel and hear. Another great M*Carbo product!

A better quality, less likely to fail, buffer. What's not to like?
I didn't notice much recoil improvement when using stock internals in the carbine. I do want to call to people's attention when using a replacement volquartsen tg9 trigger and the shock buffer, I started to experience burst fire sequences. Taking it out resolved them.

I was having issues with the buffer coming lose from the guide rod, also due to plastic OEM clip that holds the buffer in place. Constant stove pipes... Then i bought this, a replacement stainless steel clip and exact edge extractor. This gun now works flawlessly and is a sweet rifle.
I installed the recoil buffer as per the installation video, but since the buffer spring wasn't available it wasn't installed as of this review. I will update in the future when the spring is once again available.
I installed this buffer and spring with the steel spring clip. The result was softer shooting and not as much violence on the felt recoil . The enhanced part was a big difference from the stock pad and spring. I liked the steel spring retaining clip much more secure than the original plastic clip. I also purchased the extended mag release and extended bolt charging handle. I however found that the extended mag release button would bump my body and the mag would fall out.. I re-installed the original mag release button. I have since ordered and received the upgraded steel pin kit and the Exact edge extractor but not installed them yet. I write a review when I do
