Remington 597 Trigger Kit by MCARBO

  • This is the original MCARBO designed and manufactured Remington 597 Trigger Spring Kit.
  • The kit consists of a replacement hammer spring, a corresponding set of precision spacers, and installation instructions.
  • The spring is constructed of high quality ASTM A228 music wire, and the kit spacers are machined from aluminum barstock rather than the plastic stock spacers. All parts are produced in the USA.
  • This kit will reduce your trigger pull from a stock value of ~6.5 lbs to a much improved 4 lbs trigger pull.
  • Reduce malfunctions and improve accuracy.
  • The kit has been tested to ensure reliable operation with a variety of ammunition brands. Your safety button function will be unaffected.
  • All MCARBO gun parts are made in America and are Guaranteed for Life. Break it and we'll replace it! MCARBO is a Veteran Owned and Operated Business.

Remington 597 Trigger Spring Kit Instructions

    1. Verify the rifle magazine and chamber are empty.

    2. Following the instructions in your owner’s manual, remove the trigger mechanism from your gun.

    3. Use ~2” finishing nail (must be smaller than 0.125 dia) to press the hammer pin out.

    4. Lift the hammer, spring, and spacers out of the trigger housing.

    5. Arrange the hammer, kit spring and spacers and install them into the housing. Install the stock pin, taking care to align the parts. Be patient and do not force anything as your plastic trigger housing can be damaged easily.

    6. Now is a good time to add a little grease to the hammer surface.  Do not attempt to polish the hammer or sear surfaces, as doing so would remove the stock teflon-nickel coating as well as potentially make your trigger unstable.

8.Re-install the trigger assembly into your gun per your owner’s manual.

9.Cycle the action to cock the hammer. Load a snap cap or spent shell into the chamber.

    10. Put the rifle on safe and point the muzzle in a safe direction.  Pull the trigger to verify that the safety works and the hammer does not fall when you attempt to pull the trigger.

11.Place the safety on “fire”. With the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, pull the trigger and verify the hammer falls.

12.Your Remington is ready to be test fired. You should notice a reduced trigger force and associated accuracy improvement.

Thank you for making this kit

The kit significantly improved the trigger feel. I have not yet had a chance to fire the gun with the kit installed, but I am definitely looking forward to it. I'll try to remember to follow up with you to let you know about it once I've tried it. I had a Volquartsen hammer in the gun previous to installing your kit, and I was tempted to leave it in. But I followed the recommendation and reinstalled the factory hammer. The trigger feel is better with your kit than it was with the Volquartsen hammer and factory trigger spring/bushings. Thank you for developing a quality trigger kit for the 597. I hope you sell a zillion of them.

I'm able to shoot more consistent groups.

I finally had a chance to try out my 597 yesterday. The MCARBO trigger kit significantly enhances the trigger feel, and as a result, I'm able to shoot more consistent groups. I've had the gun for more than a decade, and now it's a "new" favorite plinking rifle again. Thanks again for making a quality product.
