Important Update: Where to Find Our New Videos

Over the past few weeks, several of our YouTube videos have been taken down due to YouTube’s updated policies and community guidelines. Unfortunately, this has affected a number of our instructional and educational firearm-related videos that many of our customers depend on.

To ensure you always have access to our full library of high-quality install guides, product overviews, and firearm enhancement content, we are now also uploading our new videos to Rumble, in addition to YouTube. This gives you another reliable place to watch and revisit the content you rely on.

Watch all new M*CARBO videos here:

We’ll continue delivering clear, detailed, and reliable content to help you get the most out of your firearms—without worrying about sudden removals or unexpected restrictions. Whether you prefer YouTube or Rumble, you’ll be able to find the latest from M*CARBO.

Thank you for sticking with us — the latest from M*CARBO

It's been a while, and we've spent that time sharpening the parts of our business that matter most to you: customer care, support workflows, and the resources that make buying, installing, and enjoying M*CARBO parts simpler and more reliable. At the same time, we've been quietly developing hardware tuned for the newest generation of platforms hitting the market. Below you'll find our most recent releases, organized by brand, with short notes on what each item aims to do for the shooter.

Practical upgrades—whether for daily carry, defensive use, or hard range hours—are judged by two things: do they solve a real problem, and do they maintain reliability under use. We focused on those criteria when choosing what to develop and release. Read on for short, functional descriptions of what's new and why you might consider each item.

    KEL-TEC (SUB-2000 Family)

Bolt Tube Cover (Gen 3) — A soft cheek pad that improves comfort and encourages a repeatable cheek weld on SUB-2000 Gen 3 platforms. Simple fitment, immediate ergonomic payoff for optic or iron-sight setups.

SUB-2000 10mm Muzzle Brake — CNC-machined to reduce muzzle rise and felt recoil on heavier 10mm loads. If you run full-power 10mm through a SUB platform, this brake is a clear control upgrade to speed follow-up shots.

GEN3 5.7 Grip Pin Upgrade Kit & GEN3 Grip Pin Upgrade Kit — Reinforced steel pins and hardware to replace weaker factory parts. Drop-in durability improvements at common stress points — straightforward, inexpensive insurance for high-use guns.

    Ruger

PC Carbine / LC-10 10mm Muzzle Brake — A tune specifically for the Ruger PC Carbine 10mm that flattens the recoil impulse and reduces muzzle rise. Results: cleaner follow-ups and better controllability for defensive or range use.

    Smith & Wesson

FPC-Max — Optic Mount & Charging Handle Upgrade (9mm & 10mm) — A combo kit pairing a precision CNC optic mount (co-witness-capable) with a stout aluminum charging handle designed to let you confidently rack with one finger and avoid muzzle-to-nose contact. Offered in dedicated 9mm and 10mm variants.

M&P FPC Muzzle Brake (10mm Only) — Compact, purpose-built recoil control for the FPC 10mm. A small change to the muzzle that yields measurable improvements in muzzle flip and follow-up speed under heavy 10mm loads.

    SIG / Glock & Misc

P365 XL Compensated Slide with Ported Barrel (3.1") — Premium 17-4 PH slide with a ported 3.1" barrel, dual top and side ports, and an RMSC optic cut. Reduced reciprocating mass and a cleaner recoil impulse make this a compelling option for P365/X users who want faster, more consistent follow-ups. Built in the USA and backed by our lifetime guarantee.

Sig P365 Precision Steel Barrel (3.1", 416R, Black Nitride) — Match-grade 416R barrel finished in black nitride. Drop-in, +P rated, and tested across a wide range of loadings for improved accuracy and longevity versus typical factory barrels.

ProMag 50-Round 9mm Drum (Glock 17/19) — High-capacity drum for extended range sessions. As always with high-capacity magazines, test fitment and function with your specific setup before relying on it in critical use.

    Quick shopping & install notes

Made in the USA & Lifetime Guarantee: Many of these parts are produced in the United States and come with our lifetime guarantee. Check individual product pages for the fine print and any model-specific exclusions.

Fit & Caliber Specific: Several items—most notably the 10mm muzzle brakes and the FPC-Max kits—are caliber- or model-specific. Double-check the product page to ensure you order the correct version.

Installation: Most items are drop-in or include the hardware and instructions you need. For installations you’d prefer not to tackle yourself, M*CARBO offers installation services and step-by-step how-to videos for many products.

In the realm of high-capacity .22 Magnum firearms, one has long reigned supreme: the KEL-TEC PMR-30. Known for its lightweight frame and powerful impact, it has been the go-to choice for many looking for a .22WMR pistol. However, an intriguing challenger has entered the fray, the Smith & Wesson M&P 22 Magnum. As a new addition to the illustrious Military and Police (M&P) line, it seeks to establish its place in this unique segment of the handgun market. Here's a comprehensive comparison of these two pistols based on their specifications, design, and operation.

Overview

Smith & Wesson M&P 22 Magnum

The Smith & Wesson M&P 22 Magnum represents the esteemed manufacturer's latest foray into the .22 Magnum market. Renowned for their reliability and superior craftsmanship, Smith & Wesson guns have consistently found favor among firearm enthusiasts. The M&P 22 Magnum hopes to continue that tradition.

KEL-TEC PMR-30

The KEL-TEC PMR-30 has enjoyed a solid position in the market for a considerable time now. Despite some initial feeding issues, this semi-automatic pistol has long been a crowd favorite due to its large capacity, ease of use, and high power.

Design and Ergonomics

Smith & Wesson M&P 22 Magnum

As a part of the M&P line, the M&P 22 Magnum showcases a professional, streamlined design. With an ergonomic grip, ambidextrous controls, and customizable backstraps, it's built with user comfort and adaptability in mind. The polymer frame lends the gun lightweight characteristics without compromising on durability.

The M&P 22 Magnum, with its overall length of 8.4 inches, height of 5.9 inches, and a slim width of 1.13 inches, presents a full-size profile. It weighs in at 22 ounces, making it sturdy and substantial in the hand.

KEL-TEC PMR-30

The PMR-30 also sports a lightweight, Zytel-based polymer frame. Its grip is textured for secure handling, but it doesn't offer the same degree of customization as the M&P 22 Magnum. Its slide and barrel are made of steel, balancing out the overall weight of the gun.

The PMR-30 exhibits a more compact design, with an overall length of 7.9 inches, height of 5.8 inches, and a slightly wider 1.3 inches profile. Its significant advantage is its weight; the PMR-30 weighs only 14 ounces unloaded, making it an ideal option for those seeking a lightweight firearm.

Capacity

The M&P 22 MAGNUM and the PMR-30 both boast a substantial capacity, accommodating up to 30 rounds in a flush-fit magazine. This impressive capacity, uncommon in most pistol designs, means both these firearms provide considerable firepower in the compact form of a .22 WMR pistol.

Performance and Recoil

Smith & Wesson M&P 22 Magnum

With its crisp trigger and smooth slide action, the M&P 22 Magnum delivers excellent performance. The recoil is manageable, thanks to the combination of its lightweight frame and superior ergonomics, allowing for rapid, accurate follow-up shots.

KEL-TEC PMR-30

The PMR-30 offers a smooth shooting experience with minimal muzzle rise, largely due to its unique blowback/locked-breech system. However, given its extremely light frame, some users might experience a slight increase in perceived recoil, despite the .22 Magnum's generally low recoil.

Technical Specs

When comparing the Smith & Wesson M&P 22 Magnum and the KEL-TEC PMR-30, it's essential to delve into their technical specifications. Each firearm brings unique features to the table. Let's take a closer look at the specifics.

Smith & Wesson M&P 22 Magnum Technical Specs:

Caliber: 22 WMR (Winchester Magnum Rimfire)

Weight (unloaded): 22 oz

Magazine Capacity: 30 rounds

Overall Length: 8.4 in

Barrel Length: 4.35 in

Height: 5.9 in

Width: 1.13 in

Trigger Pull: Not specified, likely within industry standard (5-6 lbs)

Sights: Fiber Optic

Frame: Polymer

KEL-TEC PMR-30 Technical Specs:

Caliber: .22WMR (Winchester Magnum Rimfire)

Weight (unloaded): 14 oz (397g)

Magazine Capacity: 30 rounds

Overall Length: 7.9” (201mm)

Barrel Length: 4.3” (109mm)

Height: 5.8” (147mm)

Width: 1.3” (33mm)

Trigger Pull: 3-5 lbs (23N)

Sights: Fiber Optic

Frame: Polymer

Both pistols are equipped with fiber optic sights to enhance visibility and target acquisition. The M&P 22 Magnum sports a green front sight and a black notched rear sight, while the PMR-30 comes standard with Hi-Viz fiber optic sights on both front and rear. These sights aim to provide a clear, high-visibility sight picture in various lighting conditions.

The M&P 22 Magnum features a flat-faced trigger intended to foster consistent finger placement, contributing to increased accuracy and repeatability during shooting. Conversely, the PMR-30 sports a trigger pull that ranges from 3-5lbs. This lighter pull, combined with the Hi-Viz sights and slightly longer barrel, can assist in maintaining accuracy across successive shots.

Customization

The M&P 22 Magnum is loaded with additional features such as an ambidextrous slide stop and manual thumb safety, accommodating both right-handed and left-handed shooters. The gun also includes two magazines and is capable of directly mounting most popular micro red dots on the market, offering users the possibility of enhanced sighting.

The PMR-30 offers its own set of unique features, including an integrated accessory rail. This can be utilized to mount a range of additional accessories like a weapon light or an optic mount, providing more flexibility for customization based on specific user needs and preferences.

Conclusion

The Smith & Wesson M&P 22 Magnum, despite being a newcomer, is a formidable contender. Its excellent ergonomics, reliable performance, and the reputation of Smith & Wesson back it up as a solid choice.

Meanwhile, the KEL-TEC PMR-30 continues to be a viable option, particularly for those seeking high capacity in a lightweight package. The PMR-30 has a ton of Aftermarket Upgrades and Accessories as well.

In the end, choosing between the two might come down to individual preference – the high-capacity PMR-30 or the ergonomic and reliable M&P 22 Magnum. Regardless of your choice, both firearms represent the epitome of .22 Magnum performance and design.

New Install Video: M*CARBO Springfield Hellcat Pro Performance Bundle

We've heard your calls and read your emails, and we're here to finally answer the burning question that many of you have been asking: "Will our Hellcat Parts work in the Hellcat Pro? Will it work in a regular Hellcat? With the thumb safety? Without the thumb safety?"

Yes, they absolutely do! But to ensure clarity and provide a detailed guide, we've prepared a Brand-New Video all about how to install the M*CARBO Springfield Hellcat Pro Performance Bundle as well as its compatibility with various Hellcat models.

What's Inside the Pro Performance Bundle?

Our Pro Bundle includes our Springfield Hellcat Flat Trigger, manufactured from durable 6061 aluminum, providing a sturdier, more comfortable feeling than the plastic stock variant. A common complaint about the plastic trigger was the occasional pinch. To combat this, we've designed a crossbar that comes all the way down, eliminating any pinching that may occur.

The bundle also comes with a custom pretravel adjustment fixture, allowing you to adjust the pre-travel according to your preference.

One of the stellar features in the Pro Bundle is our Springfield Hellcat Titanium Striker Assembly. Titanium ensures strength, reliability, and lightness. Our ingenious engineers have also revamped the connecting lug face for a smooth, crisp, and beautiful pull.

Furthermore, our Springfield Hellcat Trigger Spring Kit is included to reduce your overall trigger pull weight.

Let's Get Down to Installation!

You might be wondering, "How do I install these fantastic features?" We've got you covered. The video will guide you step by step through the installation process.

To start with the installation, you'll need the following:

A Hellcat (As stated before, it'll work with the pro or anything else)

Safety glasses

Synthetic Grease w/ PTFE

Loctite 242 Blue

A Hammer

A 3/32" Punch

A 1/16" Punch

A Bench Block

Before you get started, make sure your firearm is cleared. Once you've done this, you're all set to begin the installation!

Don't Miss Out!

We're extremely excited about this new video and hope it will help all our Hellcat users. Not only does it provide a thorough demonstration of the installation process, but it also brings you a closer look at the Pro Performance Bundle and all its exceptional components.

Check out the video and tell us what you think! And, as always, we appreciate your continued support and feedback. Happy shooting, everyone!

10 Best Shotguns for Home Defense 2022

Christmas and the Holidays are coming around the corner and there is no better gift than the gift of safety for your loved ones. Here are some of the best shotguns to add to your shopping list this season.

Why Shotguns for Home Defense?

Shotguns are definitely the biggest nightmare of any home intruder. Just the “CHICK CHICK” sound of a pump action is enough to send any invader running for the hills. They deliver the power and the level of force necessary to end a home invasion quickly and with little collateral (with the proper ammo of course, birdshot is a little messy). With good training and the right load out, you’ll be prepared to stop anyone or anything that tries to harm you, your family, or your property.

What to look for in a Home Defense Shotgun

Barrel length & Length of Pull

Having the stopping power of a 12 gauge is awesome but it’s absolutely useless if you can’t maneuver it where you need it. You want to stay away from hunting or trap shooting style shotguns which typically have longer barrels and an overall length of 42in or more. If you’re buying a shotgun for home defense, look for tactical style barrels between 18-20 inches. Anything shorter than 18 inches will make the shotgun an NFA item (National Firearms Act) and be considered a Short Barrel Shotgun (SBS) which requires a bunch of tax stamps, approvals, and other legal mumbo jumbo to own, and that’s if your state even allows you to carry a SBS at all. That being said, what can really be a major factor in maneuverability is length of pull. Length of pull is the distance from the trigger to the end of the stock. Having a shorter length of pull and a reasonably sized barrel will allow you to move through narrow hallways, doors, and clear rooms with ease.

Action Type

There are two types of shotgun an action you should consider when picking out your home defense shotgun and that is Pump Action and Semi-automatic. Bolt action, break action, and lever action shotguns are too cumbersome and slow to reload unless you’re John Wick, Clint Eastwood, or John Wayne. Semi-auto shotguns by far have the fastest rate of fire and are more tactically efficient when it comes to putting rounds down range quickly. Pump actions are considered more reliable because they eliminate variables in gas operated semi-automatics but are at risk for short stroking. A short stroke is when you don’t complete a full pull on a pump action gun so the action isn’t able to completely cycle, so you have to pump it again. This will obviously slow down your shot speed in a situation where every second could count.

<text-align: center=""> </text-align:>

Stocks & Pistol Grips

Some people out there will say you don’t need a stock for a home defense shotgun but that’s an absolute load of malarkey. Stocks will help you aim under stress and reduce the heavy recoil a shotgun produces. Shooting a shotgun without a stock is an inaccurate hip-fired wrist rocket, even with a pistol grip. Pistol grips can be useful for added stability but it comes down to preference of the shooter if they feel comfortable gripping a shotgun like that.

Shotgun Shell Size/ Capacity/ and Type

Most tactical shotguns fire 12 gauge shells. Some are offered in the less powerful 20 gauge for smaller shooters or for those who are more recoil sensitive. When it comes to ammo capacity shotguns are more limited than pistols, carbines, or rifles. When seeking a shotgun for home defense you do not want a shotgun that holds anything less than 4+1. Preferably you want a shotgun that holds 7 or more shells. As far as the type of shell to use, buckshot is the most ideal. Buckshot pellets are larger than birdshot and have a really effective stopping power up to 50 yards. They also have a pellet spread which reduces the chances for collateral damage. Birdshot pellets are too small to effectively stop an intruder, although they’re going to want to get to a hospital after being peppered with little metal BB’s. Slug shells offer incredible stopping power but you risk over penetration causing accidental collateral damage. Unless you’re trying to stop a bear, slugs are a little overkill.

Accessories

All accessories are up to personal preference. Some accessories I recommend is rail mounted lights and lasers for rapid target acquisition. I like using lasers on my home defense weapons because it allows for rapid target acquisition and lets me know what my muzzle is aiming at in the dark or if I need to quickly fire from the hip. I also highly recommend a sling with swivel mounts. Slings allow you to free up your hands if you need and makes it more difficult for an attacker to take your weapon from you. There are a lot more accessories out there that can help you defend yourself more efficiently, tactically, and safely.

Best Shotguns for Home Defense

Price: $825 MSRP

Kel-Tec is a company that designs some of the most unique firearms on the market. They built the KSG with home defense in mind and absolutely delivered! It’s the most compact shotgun on the market with the highest capacity available for a single barrel shotgun. The KSG holds up to 15 12ga rounds with a manual selector lever between the magazine tubes which allows for the fastest reload possible or a quick change in ammunition. The bullpup style frame keeps the KSG compact at just over 26in while holding a standard 18.5in barrel. Along with its compact bullpup frame, it’s also the lightest shotgun on the market at 6.9lbs unloaded. Keeping up with the tactical appearance, it also has Picatinny-style rails on the top and bottom to mount all your favorite optics and accessories. This all comes at a reasonable price point of $825. Not to mention it had a cool little cameo with Keanu Reeves in John Wick and a bunch of other great action movies. All the Kel-Tec skeptics out there need to throw out what they believe, go to a range, and try this bad boy out!

We have some of the best KSG accessories on the market!
Price: $2,099 and up depending on the model

If you are someone who has a taste for the finest things in life and loves to go all out on the highest of quality, look no further than the Benelli M4. The Benelli M4 has been combat proven to be the most reliable shotgun on the market, being used by the United States Military, U.S Special Forces, and just about every other Special Forces group on the planet. The M4 is perfect if you are the kind of person who wants a shotgun you can pick up in a hurry and know it will fire every single time. The A.R.G.O. gas system has been proven to make the M4 a reliable semi-automatic shotgun and it even reduces a lot of the abrasive recoil of a 12ga. While it may not score an A+ on tactical efficiency being 40in long and having a relatively small shell capacity, it’s on the list because of its unparalleled reliability. Coming in at $2,099 or more, it’s definitely not the most affordable. But with a great price you get great quality. Because of this it has earned the nickname “The Ferrari of Shoguns”… well and there also both Italian.

Benelli M4

Price: $490 - $706

Are you looking to use your home defense shotgun for more than just home defense? The Mossberg 500 platform has all the options you want for shotguns. Mossberg is the top name in shotguns and their 500 platform is what brought them a lot of their fame. The 500 has several different models for hunting, trap shooting, and even home defense. For home defense I recommend the ATI Tactical model because it has a shorter 18.5in barrel with an adjustable stock to give you the optimal length of pull for more tactical environments. The 6 round capacity is pretty decent for a home defense shotgun. Also price point for the Mossberg 500 is pretty awesome at $490 for base models and $706 for the ATI Tactical model.

Looking for a home defense shotgun that is easy on the wallet and great quality? The Remington 870 is the perfect choice when it comes to great quality and a fair price. The two 870 models that are best for home defense is the Model 870 Hardwood Home Defense and the Model 870 Special Purpose Marine Magnum. They come with the optimal 18.5in barrel and a standard 6 round capacity. The overall length of 38.5in isn’t terrible for a home defense gun either. Remington receivers are milled from a single block of solid steel making their durability remarkable. This gun has been tried and true. Remington has been producing the Model 870 since 1950 and over 11 million have been sold since. There are tons of aftermarket slings and accessories available for the 870 as well because it’s been popular for so long.

If it’s good enough for our ladies and gents in the Military and Law Enforcement, it’s got to be good enough for you! The Mossberg 590 is essentially a Mossberg 500 designed specifically for the military’s need for a higher capacity pump action shotgun. Since 1987 the U.S Military has relied on the Mossberg 590 and its still in service today. Since then it has been widely adopted as a home defense shotgun, giving you the classic feel of a 500 with more shell capacity and shorter length of pull. Today Mossberg has a bunch of different 590 models with all sorts of unique tactical accessories. Although the larger capacity models are a little bit longer than most tactical shotguns, it makes up for by being far lighter than most shotguns. The reliability and quality are phenomenal for the price. The mass production of the 590 has created a huge aftermarket for parts and accessories as well.

Price: $699 MSRP

When I first saw this shotgun it blew my mind. I always enjoyed AR-style shotguns but Rock Island Armory took it to the next level with the VR80. The VR80 is definitely not your Pappy’s ol’ shotgun and brings home defense into the 21st century. This shotgun is perfect if you are already familiar with AR-15 ergonomics and want an easy transition into shotguns. Rock Island Armory made tactical efficiency the center of their focus making the gun out of lightweight 7075 T6 aluminum while keeping it at a relatively compact size. The upper Picatinny rails and the M-Lok Handguard allow for a lot of customization for optics, lights, and lasers to trick out this bad boy. The VR80 is part of a series also comes in a variety of styles. The VR series comes in a pump-action style VRPA40, an M-16 style VR60, and even in a Bullpup style VRBP-100. Whatever your preferred platform is, Rock Island Armory has it in a modernized 6 shot shotgun.

The Benelli 1303 leaves all other semi-automatic shotguns in the dust in efficiency, firing rate, and style. The 1301 is comparable to the Benelli M4 with a lighter price tag, the same ridiculously high quality, and a higher shell capacity. The innovative BLINK gas operating system with a cross tube gas piston allows for 36% faster cycling than any other competitor. This is the trusted shotgun by law enforcement officers everywhere due to the immaculate reliability this shotgun has. This would be the best overall shotgun if it wasn’t for the higher end price tag. But if you got the cash I highly recommend this over any other shotgun on this list.

There aren’t many Bullpup fans out there but I am a big one. I love them because I don’t have to sacrifice a compact size for a longer barrel. Plus the longer length of pull gives me more control and stability of the firearm. American Tactical absolutely delivered at a super low price on their Bull-Dog. The Bull-Dog is compact, affordable, and probably the lightest shotgun on the market. What more could you want out of a home defense shotgun? It is brand new to the market so I can quote on the reliability factor but there hasn’t been much bad to say about it. If you like the bullpup platform and you want a cheap but good quality shotgun; the ATI Bull-Dog is the one!

The Maverick has the same great quality that Mossberg shotguns deliver at an extremely affordable price. It is a durable bare-bones shotgun great for first time shotgun owners. Many were initially skeptical on the quality but James Reeves, one of YouTube’s top firearm guys, put those notions to rest on his Maverick 88 Torture Test video. He even made hit Maverick set-up complete with the M*CARBO Mossberg 500/Maverick 88 Trigger Kit! The Maverick 88 Security model is the most optimal one for home defense due to its shorter 18.5in barrel and shorter overall length. Overall the Maverick is a great shotgun for the price and was a must have on the list.

Comparable to Benelli M4 and the Beretta 1301, the Mossberg 930 Security/SPX is great Semi-automatic shotgun at the most affordable price. Semi-automatic tube-fed shotguns like the 930 offer the smoothest cycling rate of fire and make great auto-loading shotguns. Mossberg, who is the largest producer of shotguns, saw the success Benelli and Beretta had and wanted in on it. They went on to develop a more affordable American-made semi-auto-shotgun that still holds its own in quality. The Mossberg Security models maintain that great tactical frame and are designed to help you preserve safety and protect others.

Looking to shorten the long Pre-Travel and Post-Travel reset on your LCP 2 or LCP MAX? Look no further than the M*CARBO Short Stroke Flat Trigger for the LCP 2/LCP MAX. The new Short Stroke Flat Trigger not only shortens trigger reset but also is designed to allow the shooter to place their finger lower on the trigger which improves the leverage and makes the trigger pull feel a 1/2lb lighter! This upgrade will not effect any of the OEM safety features. Our M*CARBO Short Strike Flat Trigger is made from precision CNC machined 6061 T6 Aluminum. This is significantly more durable than the OEM polymer trigger with no added weight to the LCP.

The stock trigger pull on the LCP MAX is a whopping 7lbs! The new M*CARBO LCP MAX spring Kit brings that pull down to anywhere between 5.75 to 4.5lbs (average results can vary up to +/- 1lb). The kit comes with a 10lb and a 12lb Hammer Spring to tailor the trigger pull to your liking. The Hammer Springs also have dampening insertions that are designed to reduce spring vibration and increase durability over the factory spring. This will give you a trigger action that's as smooth as butter and give you the best performance you can get out of your LCP! The Spring Kit is drop-in and includes installation fixture for an easy replacement of the firing pin spring. The LCP MAX Spring Kit will give you a smooth, crisp, and light pull that helps promote consistent, match-grade accuracy.

Ruger LCP MAX Review - A Modern Day Derringer

Ruger LCP MAX Review - A Modern Day Derringer

Have you been searching tirelessly for an incredibly concealable, high-capacity micro-compact to tuck in your skivvy shorts? Or perhaps something handy to carry in your robe for those quick mail-grabbing moments? Look no further, as this Ruger LCP Max review will provide insights into why Ruger’s LCP and LCP MAX might just be your go-to options.

This firearm is, without a doubt, the smallest carry pistol I recommend, yet it delivers a beautiful shooting experience for its size. Today at M*CARBO, we’re showing some love to our little friend, the LCP, addressing all your potential Ruger LCP Max problems and discussing Ruger LCP Max accessories to enhance your experience.

Specs

Why LCP is a Good EDC Pistol

Whether you are a concealed carry novice or a seasoned carrier, you understand that concealability is pivotal when deciding on a CCW. The Ruger LCP’s compact size earns its reputation as the ideal “pocket” carry pistol. Ruger has astonishingly fitted a 10 round .380 ACP capacity into a pistol the size of a one-shot Derringer, alleviating any Ruger LCP Max problems regarding size. It even includes a low-profile pocket holster right out of the box, making it the perfect micro-compact for small tote or coin purse carry.

Ruger has meticulously designed the LCP Max for all-around comfort. With a grip slightly longer than the LCP II, it offers a more comfortable grip, addressing any holding issues associated with tiny micro-compacts. The ergonomics of the LCP MAX make it solid to hold when firing, making it a viable backup concealed carry in an ankle or pocket holster, especially when desiring to wear more casual clothing.

.380 Skepticism

Despite its benefits, the .380 ACP has faced criticism, with some questioning its effectiveness as a self-defense round. Surprisingly, a few .380 manufacturers meet the FBI ballistics protocol for bullet penetration. The Federal .380 ACP 90 grain Hydra-Shok round not only meets but exceeds FBI standards, making it a highly recommended round for those using the LCP MAX as a daily carry.

LCP MAX Upgrades

Ruger has paid heed to customer feedback, addressing the original LCP’s shortcomings and introducing commendable improvements with the LCP MAX. A significant upgrade includes an increased mag capacity from 6 to 10+1 (12+1 with the extended grip mag), achieved through the reengineering of the magazines for double-stack capacity. The LCP MAX boasts the highest round capacity for its size, accompanied by a slight increase in width, enhancing the CCW.

The newer grips offer more surface area for better hold and recoil control, alongside upgraded iron sights featuring a Tritium front sight for faster target acquisition. The introduction of the "Secure Action" trigger and the ambidextrous magazine release are other notable improvements, enhancing the user experience and addressing potential Ruger LCP Max problems.

Final Thoughts

Ruger has invested significantly in this compact handgun, offering a great CCW option for those struggling with 9mm handgun recoil. It is incredibly suitable for quick outdoor tasks, eliminating the need for extra accessories, unlike carrying a larger Glock 17. With a reasonable Ruger LCP Max price tag of around $470, it stands as one of the best in its class.

For those seeking to optimize their Ruger experience, check out our MCARBO Ruger LCP, Ruger LCP 2, or Ruger LCP MAX upgrades. Whether it’s enhancing your firearm with Ruger LCP Max accessories or exploring the Ruger LCP Max 380 review for more insights, MCARBO has you covered.

Glock Breaks the Mold

A long time ago, in a country far away …. The Austrian based company Glock released the G17 and absolutely shook the handgun market. Many were skeptical about “plastic” polymer firearms. Polymer firearms first saw action in the Vietnam War with the original M-16, where they were widely seen as cheap and unreliable. Several other firearm companies, including Heckler & Koch, attempted to build reliable polymer firearms but never really succeeded. The popular use of polymer wasn’t until 1982 when Gaston Glock perfected the durability of polymer in his Glock 17. Since then, every firearms manufacturer under the sun has released some type of polymer firearm. There are many budget Glock-style alternatives out on the market today, often called Glock clones or Glock "Killers''. Some of the most popular are the Smith & Wesson SD9VE, the Palmetto State Armory Dagger, and the Shadow Systems MR920. Today at M*CARBO we are using "The Force" to compare the Glock to several of its closest competitors to see which is the best compact 9mm.

PSA Dagger

The latest and increasingly popular Glock clone is the Palmettos State Armory Dagger. PSA sought out to make handgun compatible with the widely popular Gen 3 Glock 17. After the patent expired on the Gen 3 Glock 17, aftermarket parts manufacturers went crazy making all kinds of slides, frames, and just about anything you can think of for the Gen 3. PSA started making slides and frames for Glocks, but then decided to put them together to make a serialized compact they called the Dagger. Now for a budget handgun the Dagger will give you a good bang for your buck, but not without a few flaws as well.

Good

Has an extended mag release (vs.G17) that is good for quick and easy reloads

Great frame for gripping with larger hands

Great stock trigger pull (5.5lbs)

Glock Magazine compatibility

Good slide texture and serrations, easy to rack back

Price (starting at $299)

Bad

No ambidextrous magazine release

Issues with trigger pin lockout (see The Firearms Blog PSA Dagger Review)

Quality control issues with loose front sight post (see Warrior Poet Society PSA Dagger Review)

Slide lock lever placement makes it easy to lock slide back when firing

Very little aftermarket parts available

Will not fit Glock 17 holsters

Smith & Wesson SD9VE

Smith & Wesson were probably one of the first to make a Glock imitation when they first released their SD Sigma in 1994. Not only was the SD Sigma plagued with issues, they were also sued by Glock for patent infringement by 1997. In 2011 S&W worked out all the kinks of the original Sigma and made a damn good Glock clone. My very first handgun I ever bought was a SD9VE, so it’s a near and dear pistol to my heart. This gun is the perfect handgun for beginner shooters with a small budget. For $400 it’s the best quality budget handgun you can get. However, what you save on the sticker price you’ll have to shell out more cash for new accessories, as S&W parts are not compatible with Glock.

Good

Wide frame and great grip texture makes it really comfortable to hold

Highly durable and made with good quality parts

Great price (MSRP’s at $400)

Accurate with great out of the box iron sights

Bad

Heavy trigger pull (8lbs)

Long take up and reset on the trigger spring

Small aftermarket parts market

Not compatible with any Glock mags or accessories

Not optics ready

Shadow Systems MR920

If you’re willing to shell out some extra cash for a daily carry with all the bells and whistles, then this is definitely the pistol for you. Shadow Systems did one heck of a job in designing their own Glock platform. Shadow Systems debuted their MR920 (MR standing for Multi-Role) at SHOT 2020. They modeled it after the Glock 19 and took out some of the small flaws Glock had. The MR920 is highly customizable and is compatible with almost all Glock accessories. While it’s not exactly wallet friendly, you will definitely feel the quality you paid for.

Good

M1911 angled grip allows for different style of holds

Compatible with Glock 19 mags and accessories

Optics ready and Holosun Holosight Options available

Threaded barrel for muzzle accessories

Great slide mechanisms with good grip serrations

Lighter recoil spring

Bad

Heavy and long trigger pull

Price (MSRP’s at $1000)

Short/ compact length grip not easily held by people with larger hands

Polymer80 PFS9/PFC9

Polymer80 has been making Glock parts and slides for years. After the Glock Gen 3 patent expired, they began making their own serialized Glock imitations in the fall of 2019. Just like some of its competitors, they took all the Glock fans feedback and crafted a really high quality polymer firearm. At $550 MSRP, it’s one of the best Glock style pistols on the market.

Good

Compatible with Glock magazines and accessories

Well priced at $550 MSRP

Standard extended mag release for quick reloading

Has a non-proprietary Picatinny rail for lights and lasers

Phenomenally smooth and light stock trigger pull (6lbs) with a short crisp reset

Great slide mechanisms with aggressive grip serrations

Bad

Will not fit Glock holsters

Mag release is not ambidextrous

Large M1911 style grip not comfortable for people with small hands

Not optics ready

Iron sights are difficult to adjust

Conclusion

Glock started a complete revolution in the firearms industry. There are so many more Glock alternatives out there, but these are definitely the top 4 currently on the market. As always, its hard to determine which is the best compact 9mm because it all comes down to preference. While some Glock clones might be better at the range or (if you’re a little broke like me) are better on the wallet, they still owe a great homage to Daddy Glock. I own a Gen 3 Glock 17 and I could never be happier with my purchase. Still, all these compact 9mm are just fun to shoot so always try before you buy if possible. I hope this article helps you decide your next carry. Happy Shooting, and May the Force Be With You!

Why Special Forces and LEO’s use Glock

With thousands of handguns out there, why do our best and bravest choose Glock?

How Glock got its Start

Glocks have been long trusted by militaries all over the world, even before they developed their first handgun. Gaston Glock, the founder of Glock, started his company in Austria (not to be confused with Australia, no Kangaroos or Koalas there) beginning in 1963 by manufacturing injected molded metal and polymer parts. By 1970, Glock was producing a line of military products consisting of knives, grenade casings, and machine gun belt links. In the early 1980’s Austrian military and law enforcement agencies were requesting a dependable striker-fired handgun to replace the hammer-fired Steyr GB, which had many flaws in its design. In 1982, Glock released its G17 which was immediately adopted by Austrian Military and LEO’s after outperforming 8 handguns from 5 major established firearms manufacturers (H&K, Sig Sauer, Beretta, FN, and Steyr). This immediately grabbed the attention of NATO and the U.S Military who were in the market to replace the iconic and widely used Browning M1911. NATO and the U.S were looking for a lighter pistol that had a larger magazine capacity than the M1911’s 7 round magazine, and Glock absolutely delivered.

Reinventing the Modern Handgun

When Gaston Glock took on the challenge of designing a handgun for the Austrian Military, he wanted to do more than just meet their specs. He wanted to revolutionize pistols as we knew it by combining a kind of quality, durability, and reliability never seen before. Glock set out to design a pistol that would be dependable and safe, something you could pick up and fire at a moment’s notice but also be protective against accidental discharges. It was the first of its kind to include 3 internal safeties in the trigger, firing pin, and drop safeties. The Austrian Military also wanted a sidearm that was simple to field strip, so Glock designed the G17 to only comprise of 35 parts. Another request by the Austrian Military was to maintain the high magazine capacity the Steyr GB offered. Glock did just that while keeping its G17 more compact. The most notable change Glock introduced was its revolutionary durable polymer frame, creating the lightest standard pistol made at the time. With the first Glock 17 being lightweight, reliable, consistent and simple, it was an obvious choice for the new standard issue sidearm for militaries and law enforcement agencies all over the world.

The Road to #1

After the Glock 17 passed the NATO durability test in 1984, the Norwegian Army selected it as their service pistol as well. The rapid adoption of this new innovative pistol opened the eyes of military and law enforcement agencies everywhere. The G17 had gained huge popularity from U.S Law Enforcement, and soon after federal, state and local agencies were adopting them left and right. By 1986, Glock opened its U.S Headquarters in Smyrna Georgia. Once Glock was established in the U.S, they began collaborating with LEO and Federal agencies and became available in multiple sizes and calibers. Today over 65% of all the federal, state and local agencies issue Glocks as their standard issue.

Adoption by Special Forces

By 2003, the Glock sensation reached U.S Special forces. One of the most elite Special Forces units, the U.S Army Delta Force, was the first Special Forces unit to use .40 caliber Glock 22. Despite not being adopted by all of the U.S military because of their pre-9/11 requisition of the Berretta M9 and continued favoritism of the M1911, U.S Special Forces units began requesting Glocks specifically. After Delta Forces saw continued success with Glock in the Middle East during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S Special Forces Command (SOCOM) took notice. More covert operations were being conducted in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the U.S Special Forces required a smaller and lighter pistol for conceal carry missions.

The lightweight, high capacity and compact line of Glocks was soon highly requested by many Special Forces Operators. SOCOM was reluctant at first to open a new arms contract because the M9 Beretta was chosen as the standard issue sidearm just a few years prior. As their popularity from LEO agencies sky-rocketed, SOCOM finally decided to give their operators what they wanted. From 2006-2010 the rest of SOCOM units (U.S Army Special Forces, Navy SEALs, and the Air Force’s 24th Special Tactics Squadron) began issuing different Glock models to meet the needs of their specific operations. Today the DOD has replaced the M9 Beretta with the Sig P320/M17, but many Special Forces units still rely heavily on the Glock 17, 19, and 22.

Glock Now

Today, Glock is the leading firearms industry in sales with the G17 and the G19 being the two top selling handguns of all time. Currently Glock is in its 5th generation of firearms with its newest subcompact G43X being both the newest in its series and the highest selling pistol of 2022 so far. The name Glock alone is the first you think about when it comes to pistols. As a company they always are listening to customer feedback and constantly improving their craft generation after generation. Every single firearm they have released has been consistently reliable and innovative. It’s no surprise that many firearm manufacturers today use many of the concepts Glock designed into the original G17. Glock will forever be a leader in pistols and I look forward to seeing their future innovations

In the fiercely debated competition of Sig P365 vs Hellcat, it's challenging to definitively declare a winner. The Sig P365 vs Springfield Hellcat debate has brought firearms enthusiasts to consider every element of these compact titans, exploring dimensions, frame, slide, sights, safety, trigger, magazine capacity, firing and recoil, quality and aesthetics, and, of course, price.

Dimensions and Frame

Examining the dimensions, the Springfield Hellcat and Sig P365 are almost identical in size and weight. However, a closer inspection reveals the Springfield Hellcat’s compactness in height, setting it apart. When it comes to frames, the Hellcat offers a wider grip, potentially benefiting those with a preference for a more substantial hold. However, this is contrasted by the P365’s longer length, offering a snug grip around the magwell, particularly beneficial for those with larger hands.

Slide and Sights

The slide of the Sig P365 is often lauded in Sig Sauer P365 reviews for its superior design and smooth operation, outperforming the Hellcat. The serrations on the P365 are notably more defined, aiding in the firearm’s usability, especially in high-pressure situations.

Sights are a significant differentiator in the Springfield Hellcat vs Sig P365 battle. Springfield opts for Tritium U-dot sights, creating a contrasting design compared to the Sig P365’s varied sight options, depending on the model. The base and X-series models of the Sig P365 offer X-RAY3 Day/Night sights, providing a clear sight picture, a feature often praised in Sig Sauer P365 review discussions.

For those keen on optics, both brands present higher-end models equipped with optics-ready slides, namely the Hellcat OSP and the Sig X-Series.

Safety and Trigger

Safety is paramount, and both the Sig Sauer P365 and Springfield Hellcat uphold this principle, incorporating manual safety in their State Compliant models. The Hellcat, however, gains an edge with its standard trigger safety.

Trigger design and responsiveness are pivotal for many users, and both the Sig P365 and Hellcat offer unique experiences. The P365 is renowned for its smooth pull, while the Hellcat offers a more definitive trigger pull, catering to varied preferences.

Magazine Capacity and Firing Experience

On the firing range, magazine capacity becomes a pivotal factor. The Hellcat surpasses the base model P365, boasting an 11+1 standard mag capacity. However, the Sig P365 X-Series, especially the XMACRO, holds a commanding lead with a whopping 17+1 capacity.

Recoil management is also essential, and the P365’s longer frame design proves advantageous, especially when paired with the compensator-integrated models like the P365 XMACRO and Hellcat RDP.

Quality, Aesthetics and Price

Quality-wise, both firearms are on par, with the Hellcat’s frame feeling sturdier and the P365’s slide showcasing unparalleled smoothness. A point of distinction is the P365’s American-made origin, compared to the Hellcat’s production in Croatia. Aesthetically, the sleek design of the Sig Sauer P365 slightly overshadows the Springfield Hellcat.

The Springfield Hellcat price stands around $600 for the base model, which is somewhat higher compared to the Sig Sauer P365 price of around $500. However, some might argue that given the Hellcat’s features and performance, this price difference is justified. The upgraded models, like the Sig P365 XMACRO and Hellcat RDP, have higher price tags, around $800 and $1000 respectively, with each offering features that warrant the cost.

The Results

Determining the winner in the Sig P365 vs Springfield Hellcat debate is a challenging endeavor. Both firearms are award-winning micro-compacts, each with its unique advantages. The Springfield Hellcat review highlights its compactness and sturdiness, making it a solid choice for those seeking a smaller carry. In contrast, the Sig Sauer P365 reviews underscore its versatility, accommodating design, and overall performance, especially in the XMACRO model. Ultimately, your choice between the Hellcat vs Sig P365 will hinge on your personal preferences, shooting style, and specific needs.

Sig Sauer, a brand synonymous with quality and innovation, has once again set the bar high in the firearm industry with its latest release – the Sig Sauer P365 XMACRO Pistol. This piece aims to provide an in-depth Sig P365 X Macro review, discussing its features, enhancements, and why it’s positioned to be your next every day carry (EDC). We will also discuss the Sig Sauer P365 X Macro price, making it easier for potential buyers to make an informed decision.

Revolutionary Features

Taking the best elements from the beloved P365 Series, Sig Sauer amalgamated them to craft a compact handgun that surpasses its predecessors. The P365 XMACRO sports the compact barrel length of the P365X, while incorporating the advanced sight radius and recoil dampening characteristics of the P365XL. However, the innovation doesn’t stop there; the P365 XMACRO introduces several improvements, truly redefining what it means to be a fully loaded compact carry.

This handgun boasts an 18-round magazine capacity (9mm) while maintaining a total height of only 5.2 inches and a width just over an inch. Such dimensions ensure that the firearm is not only easy to conceal but also fits comfortably in the palm of your hand.

One of the significant enhancements is the built-in slide-mounted compensator. This new feature reduces recoil, allowing for quicker and more accurate successive shots, making the P365 XMACRO more shootable than ever. Additionally, firearm enthusiasts will appreciate the beloved X-Series trigger that ensures a smooth and easy trigger pull.

The XMACRO comes with the same easy optic compatibility as the P365XL but goes a step further by incorporating an additional M1913 rail underneath. This feature facilitates the easy addition of lights and lasers, enhancing the firearm’s versatility. Moreover, SIG has redesigned the grips to be removable, offering three different sizes (S/M/L) with each purchase, ensuring a customizable and comfortable experience for the user.

Why P365 XMACRO is the Best EDC

In evaluating the suitability of an EDC, the "Three C’s” are paramount: concealability, firing capability, and comfortability. The P365 XMACRO excels in all these aspects, with an overall length of just 6.6 inches, fitting easily into any hip or conceal carry holster. Weighing in at a mere 21.5oz, this lightweight design ensures quick and easy drawing.

The firing capability of the P365 XMACRO is unmatched. With an 18-round total magazine capacity, which is almost unheard of for its compact size, users will spend more time shooting and less time reloading. The built-in slide-mounted compensator reduces recoil by 25%, facilitating faster secondary shots on target. Coupled with the X-Series Flat Trigger, every shot is smooth and easy.

Comfort is not compromised in the design of the XMACRO. The new Polymer grips are removable and customizable, fitting your hand perfectly. Shooting the XMACRO feels more comfortable than sitting on an old leather couch, a testament to SIG’s commitment to user experience.

Comparing the P365 Series

A comparison of the P365 Series underscores the advancements that the P365 XMACRO brings to the table. It stands out in terms of magazine capacity, size, recoil management, and customizability, setting a new standard in the EDC category.

Upgrades and Accessories

For those looking to enhance the performance of their P365 XMACRO, several upgrades are available from M*CARBO, including the Sig Sauer P365 Short Stroke Flat Trigger Upgrade, Sig Sauer P365 Titanium Performance Striker, Assembly and Sig Sauer P365 Trigger Spring Kit. Additionally, a variety of Sig Sauer P365 X Macro accessories are available, ensuring that users can tailor their firearm to their specific needs.

Holster Options

Finding the best holster for Sig P365 X Macro is crucial for any EDC. Several holster options are available, providing secure and comfortable carry options for every user. Choosing the right holster is essential for ensuring quick draw and concealability.

We recommend using our Sig Sauer P365 IWB Holster.

Price Consideration

Discussing the Sig Sauer P365 X Macro price is vital for potential buyers. Sig Sauer has positioned the P365 XMACRO as a premium yet affordable option in the EDC market, ensuring that quality and innovation are accessible to a broad audience.

The MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price) for the Sig Sauer P365 X-MACRO is $825.99.

Conclusion

The Sig Sauer P365 XMACRO revolutionizes the EDC industry, combining compactness, high capacity, and exceptional shooting experience. Its array of features and enhancements makes it the best choice for those seeking a reliable and comfortable every day carry. With a variety of upgrades and accessories available, along with different holster options, the P365 XMACRO is customizable to fit every user’s needs.

New 5.7x28mm Ruger LC Carbine vs. Ruger PC Carbine

In the realm of compact carbines, Ruger remains a top contender, constantly innovating and refining their product line. The latest addition to their carbine family is the Ruger LC Carbine, a versatile and lightweight option that caters to a variety of shooting needs. The introduction of the Ruger LC Carbine 5.7x28mm promises an elevated experience for enthusiasts, whether for range shooting, personal defense, or small game hunting. But how does it fare against its predecessor, the Ruger PC Carbine? This article delves deep into the distinctive features, design, performance, and ease of use of these two carbines, providing an in-depth Ruger LC Carbine review and a Ruger PC Carbine review.

Ruger LC Carbine Autoloading Rifle

The new Ruger LC Carbine 5.7 x28 is a testament to Ruger’s commitment to innovation and versatility. Weighing just 6lbs and offering folding stock options, it stands out as an ideal companion for backpacking, small game hunting, or range shooting. The LC Carbine's compact dimensions, with a barrel length of 16.25 and a total length of 30.60, make it Ruger's most compact carbine yet!

Customization and Versatility

Customization is at the forefront of the LC’s design. With its Picatinny rail system and fully ambidextrous features, including a manual safety, reversible charging handle, ergonomic bolt release, and extended magazine release latch, the Ruger LC Carbine caters to a wide range of shooters’ needs. The threaded barrel, complete with thread protection, allows for the addition of caliber appropriate flash hiders, muzzle brakes, and suppressors. One remarkable feature of the LC is its adoption of the 5.7x28mm rounds, which sets it apart in the market, making the Ruger LC Carbine 5.7 a unique offering. The package includes one Ruger-5.7™ steel pistol magazine, an ambidextrous magazine button, M-LOK® QD sling socket, and hex wrenches for disassembly, adding value to the Ruger LC Carbine 5.7 price.

Ruger LC Carbine vs. Ruger PC Carbine

The Ruger PC Carbine has enjoyed notable success, becoming a staple for many shooting enthusiasts. It’s evident that the PC Carbine’s success has influenced the design and creation of the LC Carbine. While they share similarities in appearance, diving into their specifications reveals a world of differences.

Design and Construction:

Ruger PC Carbine:

Chambered for the 9mm Luger round, the Ruger PC Carbine is synonymous with practicality and versatility. It features a weather-resistant synthetic stock and a heavy contour barrel, enhancing its accuracy, durability, and portability. The compact and lightweight design of the Ruger PC Carbine 9mm makes it a favored choice among users, as evidenced by numerous Ruger PC Carbine 9mm reviews.

Ruger LC Carbine:

The LC Carbine, while mirroring the robustness of the PC model, offers a sleeker and more compact design. This streamlined construction makes the LC Carbine Ruger a preferred option for those seeking manageability and convenience in their firearms.

Functionality and Performance:

Ruger PC Carbine:

Renowned for its deadbolt action and simple blowback system, the PC Carbine guarantees smooth operation. It is compatible with both Ruger and Glock magazines, showcasing its versatility. The adjustable ghost ring rear sight and a non-glare, protected blade front sight further contribute to its accuracy.

Ruger LC Carbine:

The LC Carbine, operating on a similar blowback system, incorporates several features for enhanced performance. Its improved ergonomics, streamlined design, and better grip make it exceptionally user-friendly. Additionally, the LC Carbine supports interchangeable magazines from more brands, underlining its adaptability.

Ease of Use:

Ruger PC Carbine:

The PC Carbine stands out with its takedown design, allowing for effortless disassembly, cleaning, maintenance, and transportation. The adjustable length of pull can be customized to fit any shooter, contributing to its user-friendliness, as seen in various ruger pc carbine reviews.

Ruger LC Carbine:

Matching the PC in disassembly ease, the LC Carbine takes user experience up a notch with its lightweight, compact design and enhanced ergonomics. These features make the lc carbine ruger particularly advantageous for those carrying their firearm for extended durations.

Final Thoughts:

Choosing between the Ruger PC Carbine and the Ruger LC Carbine boils down to individual needs and preferences. If a classic, sturdy design with a heavy contour barrel and customizability appeals to you, the PC Carbine is a worthy contender. However, for those leaning towards a more compact, lightweight, and ergonomic firearm with a sleek design, the new Ruger LC Carbine 5.7x28mm is certainly worth considering.

As we wrap up this comprehensive comparison and review, it’s clear that both the Ruger LC Carbine and the Ruger PC Carbine have their unique selling points. With the detailed insights provided, we hope to have made your decision-making process a little bit easier, whether you are contemplating the Ruger LC Carbine 5.7 price or scanning through Ruger PC Carbine reviews.
